theres definitely a lot of love for the gated shift you only have to look at the recent rise in 328/550 values and the 575 Manual value vs F1 to feel the love

if we are completely honest with ourselves some of the early 'paddle shifters' from all manufacturers although good and very usable once learned, can be a tad agricultural when compared back to back with the modern offerings which are an incredible technical accomplishment seamlessly shifting both up and crucially down. they have evolved >Betamax>VHS>DVD> and of course Ferrari no longer offer Manual hence the 'retro' passion.

A manual on the other hand is well 'a manual' and if you are going for short low miles runs / blasts they are enormously rewarding and involving and it seems this is what many buyers are chasing when buying 355 / 360 & 430 the exception is the 360 CS as you buy it as a road/ race car and the F1 shift aggression is part of the visceral experience.

I also think there is always the question that pops into many buyers heads when buying an early F1 car 'what's it going to cost if it needs fixing' whereas a manual although expensive is a more 'known' quantity if it needs work.

a good 355 / 360 /430 manual is a great proposition if you yearn for 'old school' gated change

well .... about 5-6 years ago or so people did wake up and bottom F430s were selling for 70k (or less in some cases) if I remember correctly and 355s were selling for 30-50k. And about 10 years ago F40s were selling for around 200k from memory.
A few years back I sold my 430 'Spanish Waiter' for £65k frown . Fortunately I put the proceeds into a 360 Challenge Stradale smile

I needed money and had to sell my 355 for 27k ... don't care about the value, but still miss my baby. I don't think we will see prices that low again, but still believe prices for not-mint-superlow-mileage-red cars will correct - at least LHD, just too many cars out there.

On my FF I just mentally wrote off the car when buying as I will never sell it anyway (let's hope for once reality will actually work out as I had planned ...)

Just proves the point about how ridiculous some of these prices are at the moment.

But it only takes 1 missing person from the local village to buy it so dealers are just thinking of a price and adding a nought on the end. Wouldn't even give £100k for that low spec early car regardless of mileage if its believable anyway

The link I posted at the start of this thread for the £130k Manual F430 Spider, says the car is no longer available!! - I'm guessing that means it's sold?

10k mile F430's F1's are selling for £110k..... so in that context, whilst the -9k miles is coming at a chunky premium, I'm not sure its all that "ridiculous". Even low mile 360's (manual's admittedly) are making 6fig amounts. Thats simply where the market is right now.

A lot of love for the manuals which is fair enough. If there had been one available when I was buying, then I would have bought it. But at the time there wasn't and I was in a hurry to complete the purchase. So I have a 355 F1 GTS. I paid 42K for it three years ago. Sure it might not command as high a price as a manual, in theory, come sale time but since there were only 74 cars made in my spec (RHD) I'm holding onto the belief that rarity will win out!
Anyway, it's not for sale, so it's all academic!
It's been a pretty reliable car so far. Quite a lot of the mechanical stuff is exactly the same as for the manual version so I'm not sure why someone would worry overly about it breaking.
