I was really lucky to find this car. Apart from looking new and having 2 years Factory warranty, it was exactly as I would have specced a new car - it had everything I wanted and nothing else. The seats are a requirement for me as at 6ft 2in, I can't get comfortable with the normal seats. AND, the age of the car (Jan 2006) means it qualifies for the lower road tax too!

Lower tax is a brucie bonus ! Good point re the seat height.... cursory experience of my manual daytona's indicates they could be a bit lower.... apparantly with electric seat adjustment they sit higher still due to the motors !

Having driven my friends 430 with standard seats, it is amazing what a difference it makes, it actually feels like a different car all together, with the Buckets, the visibility changes, your legs are extended, and you feel hugged, much more race car like. In contrast, the standard seats felt very similar to my SL55, and changed the way the car felt, it didnt feel as raw or rugged.

For me, the issue is simply that with the standard seats my head is vey close to the roof, whereas with the carbon seats I have plenty of space. They are also really comfortable over long distances. I have done more than 500 miles in a day before now and both I am my wife (who has a bad back that offers in most cars) got out at the end with no aches or pains. Oh yes, and they really hold you well in corners!

Hi ZeroH
The Clarion / Ferrari head unit works good enough there is better units out there for that money but don't have the Ferrari name on them.
Make sure you get the Dab adaptor if you go with the Clarion.
Hey Zero. we met today at Auto Audio. congrats on the car.

sorry to hijack the thread, Tom did you actually get the DAB add-on to work consistently? I've just had it all fitted in my 430 and found it to be rubbish. In fact i'm going to be taking it all out.

Cheers

Hi Pav

Yes the Dab adaptor works but mainly in town as I said there is better units out there and knowing what I know now I would buy other unit. IN saying that it does do what I need and it has the Ferrari name on it so looks like it belongs in the car.

None of this surprises me..... I truly believe that this is just the start for Manual F430 values.

This wasn't just another car that was two tenths of a second quicker 0-60, it was the last and most technically advanced Ferrari V8 to be produced with the iconic manual metal gated gearbox. Not only did this mark the end of a unique driving style exclusive to Ferrari, but also many years of Ferrari tradition.

This really is the end of an era..... I believe this cars place in Ferrari's history is so significant, that values will continue to rise and demand will always be high.

What happens if Ferrari follow the likes of Aston Martin and return manual as an option? Does the F430 become just another Ferrari or will it still continue to climb? Are you that confident Ferrari will never, ever make another manual?

I think because Ferrari are largely about speed and of course the need to keep up with the competition, manually transmissions will never return, as this would make it very difficult for Ferrari to compete with it's rivals. After all, we all know that computers and the flick of a finger will change gear much faster than a human being can.... So yes, I am pretty confident that we won't see manual gearboxes returning to Ferrari.

Also, it would cost Ferrari a lot more money to develop and offer two gearbox types, something I doubt they'll choose to do when what they currently offer provides a quicker gear change, 0-60 time and is selling very well.

Will there be a "one off' special edition, manual Ferrari produced in limited numbers at some point in the future? Quite possibly:

Will it become the norm - No
Will it effect F430 manual values - No

No entry level sports car? No new Dino?

I wouldn't be so sure.....I can see it in the next few years. The arms race will end. It's already futile with 700bhp in an normal supercar. Then they will look at other offerings.

I perfectly agree.

Even if Ferrari decided to bring back the manual transmission, which I highly doubt, it wouldn't affect manual F430 values AT ALL. Why ? Simply because the manual F430 is one of the rarest Ferrari of modern era.
Plus, it has a naturally aspirated V8.
