Thruxton , and an amazing car as big a step forward from the 458 as it was from the 430 . There was a Red , Black , White and Yellow all with different trim spec ......... but I think it looks amazing in Silver ....

As big a step forward as a 430 to 458 redface The 458 was poles apart from the F430 for both the exterior to interior design to gearbox etc. The 488 looks very similar to a 458 from the outside and inside they are pretty much hard to distinguish. I have a couple of mates who have "upgraded" their 458s to 488s and as expected they do think the newer car is better but not that much better as you have made it out to be. The 488 IMHO is a rushed effort from Ferrari to keep up with Mclaren. The 488 Speciale will be the special one as they would have had enough time to make the car what it really should be.

I went to see my dealer yesterday and they told me they had only supplied 7 488GTB so far. They are still quoting 18 month lead time and mine is still due for a September build. I have not seen any instance of anyone being able to 'get one in a couple of months' from a main dealer.

As an aside - anyone else with orders in going to the 488 driving day in May at Donington?
I'm hoping to be going to Donnington - my car has just gone Status 40 so should be finished end of next week and delivered after the Bank holiday weekend- fingers crossed.

Customer cars only started to arrive in Jan, but at a very slow rate, from what I can work out, mine will be about the tenth delivered in the Nort West.
It's been a long wait, but having driven the dealer demo last weekend, it's another cracking car from Ferrari.
The mid range torque is amazing, if not scary!
Quite looking forward to it..

I too went to Thruxton on Wednesday and spent an 2 hrs looking at and driving round in 488's. WOW its a beast of a car...so controlled and gentle in its behaviour, but when the revs rise and its pushed its an animal. So fast, such mid range, massive stopping power and amazing traction for a RWD car. Very impressed.

My dealer told me he has supplied 5 customer cars this year and quoted someone who he claimed ordered a car that day, a May 2017 delivery time.

Im expecting next April (which is going to be a painful wait)

I picked up mine recently and can confirm its a fantastic car to drive - a real step up from the 458/Speciale
Its also makes the GT3RS feel old and slow

Very nice in Black....what did you decide to do with the interior colour....? /Seat options.

Always worries me what a black car with a black interior will look like.?

Great job with the interior.....black cars need some colour on the inside but for me have to be practical as well so I would want the black leather interior....

Saying that Im secretly hoping they will soon release an alcantara option as well as that's what im really after rather than leather, but currently no signs of that on the options list.

Enjoy the 488 mate...she is a stunner for sure..

There was a customer 488 at HROwen last week all in alcantara - it's an option on request

Egham delivered an alcantara interior on sports seats this week - there's a suggestion cars are coming through quite quickly - presumably soaking up genuine orders before the UK customer Spiders start getting produced after the summer break

Maranello Egham have a 488 spider demo in the 'new' blue of the official launch pics. Looked at it on Saturday and I must say it is sensational. Seats are in alcantara, too.

How much of the interior/seats is alcantara? Would this be a cost option over standard leather or is it a no cost option?

I have specced a Spider with racing seats in black leather. I would certainly like to consider alcantara.

Thank you.

The seats are full alcantara. Can't comment on cost options, etc, as I was in there to look at a different car and got distracted when I saw the blue 488 spider appear. Beautiful distraction, though!
