Indeed "that noise" which is what you just don't get from a 488. Brilliant car that the 488 is, I think a lot of people (me for one) will not move from the last of the naturally aspirated V8s to a turbo V8.

I drove a 488 (quite hard) recently - it may not make exactly 100% as good a sound as the 458, and it may redline at 1000 rpm lower, and you do notice this, but it is bloody awesome anyway. Stick a Larini or Tubi on it maybe for total awesomeness.

Agree, I drove one too and it was magnificent but not £100k+ magnificent to justify moving to one right now. In fact I was VERY surprised at how similar the interior was it's pretty much identical to a 458 interior with numerous same parts being used. I would say it's more of a facelift with a new engine rather than a completely new model. In all honestly I think it was a pretty rushed effort from Ferrari to bring out something ASAP due to the success Mclaren is facing at the moment it needed to do something and do something quick so the 488 was born - Rambo Lambo - don't take advantage of this post hehe

As if I would.
I've always liked the 458 and I generally prefer and buy 2nd generation / evolution F cars ala F355, F430 so was surprised it wasn't a F488.
As you say its a facelift with turbo engine and I do prefer looks wise on the whole over 458 but what's gained is lost a bit with the N/a V8 the Ferrari offered over a McLaren.
Would I have a 488 spider over a McLaren 650S - No not even if they were the same price let alone £100k more

Yup.

Videos from last month driving my 458 Spider over the Brennerpass and Jaufenpass. I know, shockingly it turns out cars are for driving. Who knew?

As you can see, picking up on the TopTrump comment earlier, without overstepping the boundaries of what is safe on public roads, even quiet passes on an Evening, you can't even use the full performance of a 458 Spider never mind anything more capable so, ultimately, its about how it makes you feel. No way I would go into those blind bends any quicker than I do here. Too much risk of a cyclist being round there and that kind of thing will ruin everyone's day. Plus in the third video, on the Jaufenpass in the rain, the bloody great big drops down the mountain scare the bejesus out of me, not to mention the trees and the massive piss take from the rest of the lads on the trip if I binned the car.

Anyway, enough money talk, here's an Italian V8 cruising through the Alps. Buy one, enjoy, die happy.
That's my car porn videos sorted for my imminent 3hr bumper to bumper commute to Bahrain! Cheers :-)

If I can't sleep tonight after all that excitement, I will just browse through a few of RamboLambo's posts and I'll soon be in a blissful slumber.
