Rambo Lambo while I agree that discounts on a 650s may well be achievable possibly down to 180, a 488 really isn't 100k more expensive. That is first hand experience
He said 488 Spider, he's probably right when you collect in 2 years time.

And with that childish response you've pretty much lost me.

RL certainly does have an annoying posting style, I'm a Mac owner and he still gets on my nerves.

But if that's your idea of a reasoned response then don't expect any of your subsequent posts to be taken seriously. I'd have thought that at least here we could avoid sounding like an archetypal pistonheads blowhard.
Oh well, you don't sound my cuppa tea eithersmile
I'll have my cup of tea with Brad thanks.

Boshly I should have been clearer I have a 488 spider and it wasn't 100k more expensive. Both are good cars lucky to have either and enjoy them.

650S production has ceased so in reality you are looking at a nearly new used car.

You can get a 650s Spider for circa £180k but a similar spec 488 spider at full list and 2 year waiting list is about £100k more.
That's a lot of dosh
Mine is a 488 spider, it wasnt £280k though ... quite a bit less and with a decent spec. Base price was something like £204k from memory. Still a lot of money either way vs £110k MP4 12C which is still an amazing car in its own right. I actually think the MP4 looks better as well from some angles smile

Congrats and lucky you.

Agree on the angle of that photo the 12C looks better. That's actually quite a boring and plain design on the Ferrari boot lid and its always more sexy to see the engine.
Not sure why they couldn't give it a glass panel

I kind of like the fact they haven't, the glass engine window thing has done its rounds. The solid panel echos of the 246 to me smile

Have you posted this yet Mr R Lambo?

"wibble wobble"

"Sadly enough, the 488 Spider isn't quite as dazzling on the B1117 just outside Framlingham as it was in Emilia-Romagna. The creaks, tremors and wobbles that were so tricky to uncover back then rear their ugly heads at much lower commitment levels now, the steering column in particular suffering for a lack of rigidity. It's bizarre given how convincing the car felt then, plus Ferrari's claim that the car has identical torsional stiffness to the GTB. Smaller bumps are typically dealt with by the very clever magneto-rheological dampers, but larger imperfections or successive bumps see you backing off as the body doesn't feel able to keep pace."

"But for a drop-top super sports car that more closely retains the dynamic integrity of the coupe, McLaren's carbon-tubbed McLaren 650S is a more convincing effort. "

Do not like glass engine panels - arent they also heavier than carbon or aluminium - thought mclaren is all about light weight and performance ..... more poser than performance imo

Not entirely sure if serious....

You're talking about near 1500kg cars (nearer 1600kg in the case of the 488 actually) that have heaps of leather and upgraded/pseudo fancy speakers. Plus it's the hairdressers version you're talking about. Is the glass panel's added weight really going to be that much of an issue .......? I assume you'd also want a halo seat and front cage then given your focus on performance... wink

Maybe in coupe form but quite clearly not as a spider http://www.pistonheads.com/road-tests/ferrari/ferr...

Didn't find what they did when I drove Spider in the UK. The car was blisteringly fast and I hardly noticed any scuttle shake - certainly not enough to take my attention away from deploying 670hp through the rear wheels on the road. Occasionally you could notice a vibration in the rear view mirror but not more. I would NEVER be buying a 650 Spider over a 488 Spider, even though I chose a 12C Spider over a 458 Spider.

how often were you on 7th gear on a fast country road as that's the only time you are getting all 670 hp given the torque is limited on the lower gears..... the 488 is certainly a bloody quick car but most of the time it absolutely is not able to put down all the quoted headline hp.

Come on, are you serious? It's a figure of speech - should I say "concentrating on deploying 453hp at 3,200rpm, rising to 632hp at 7,000rpm in 3rd gear..."?

Fact is, it is very very fast, fast enough that whatever gear you're in you have to fully concentrate if your foot is flat on the floor.
