Almost got caught out today with petrol ... Long trip up the M6, on the way back home and had plenty of miles left on the range with no petrol light, then came off the motorway and got stuck in traffic and within a minute or two, the petrol light came on, the range display went from 40+ miles straight to " - - " (zero) and the petrol gauge dropped to the last red bar .... And I was still sat in traffic !!!!
One of my previous cars (can't recall which one) used to tell you to the mile how much range you had left, until it reached 30 when it always went straight to zero. Perhaps the FF is similar? My wife was stranded on the motorway in the snow one night and was worried that she'd run out of fuel keeping the engine running in order to keep the heating on. Talking to her on the phone i said staying warm was her priority so don't worry unduly but keep an eye on the gauge. She was there from 8pm until 5am and the gauge didn't perceptively move. (Mercedes E350 so not a small 'sip sip' engine, but similarly not a 'gulp gulp' in the league of an FF)

After a VERY anxious 10 minutes of crawling along and just hoping I made it to the next garage, fortunately I got there and avoided the embarrassment of being stranded in gridlock rush hour.
Maybe I just wasn't paying as much attention to it as I should have been, but thought I'd share this, just to warn others to be mindful that on a longer run the car "thinks" it's got plenty in the tank and adjusts the range and all seems perfectly fine, but as soon as you hit slower traffic it literally drops like a stone (far more-so than I've ever experienced before).
Other than that, nice to give the car a reasonable run out.
Just as an FYI, my dealer says one should avoid dropping below 3 bars as the engine management might then throw up some error codes. After a VERY anxious 10 minutes of crawling along and just hoping I made it to the next garage, fortunately I got there and avoided the embarrassment of being stranded in gridlock rush hour.

Then again I am getting loads of error messages anyway - I think it is not too keen on the very low temperatures sometimes. Still think it is the best only car one can have though - does autobahn better than anything else I have driven, snowy mountains, city driving.
I would like ia bigger fuel tank though as the range is a little too low for my taste and I am not 100 percent convinced by the brakes, one can feel that it is a very heavy car, esp. If the brakes are a little cold, which can be an issue in winter at high speeds.

Bravo!
It's surprising how good they are in the snow isn't it!
yes indeed - hope there will be some snow when I am back in Austria in a couple of weeks to test it a bit more. I think the main constraint is that once there is a little more snow, the car turns into a snowplough. It's surprising how good they are in the snow isn't it!
As with all heavy cars on wide tyres, going downhill can be a bit dicey ...

I am seriously considering one of these. I've always loved them and said I'd get one at 100k but they seem to have stuck at 150k which is frustrating. No doubt if I make the jump (40th birthday this year) then they'll drop to 50k in a matter of months lol
My feelings exactly! They were heading south at a steady rate , and now seem to have stuck at the £150k mark for well over a year. Actually some of the new listings seem to be edging up to £160. It' somehow doesn't seem to be the bargain they were a couple of years ago. Best to wait it out a bit and see what happens. The upside is that the F12 is breaking through the £200k barrier.http://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-eurocars/ferrar...
so that's the facelift car announced - will it have a big impact on used FF prices ? I guess it will on the nearly new ex demo cars, but less of an impact on 2012-13 cars priced circa 145 to 160k.
I had a prod around the white demo at Maranello this weekend and was very impressed. Now it's just down to a test drive and finding a 2014 onwards one in the right colour and spec (grey, silver or blue, clear glass, pano roof, carbon zone on the twin spoke upgrade wheels).

I think it will have a big impact, the replacement was rumoured to be a smaller turbo charged unit, now it a an n.a. V12 I can see plenty of people wanting the newer shinier one. 4WS could also potentially make the new car that bit more special dynamically. so that's the facelift car announced - will it have a big impact on used FF prices ? Clearly I am biased as I'd love to own an FF but haven't got 150k for one!

I take it you are on snow tyres? (It looks like it in photos, but can't quite tell) As with all heavy cars on wide tyres, going downhill can be a bit dicey ...
Do you change wheels?

As seawise said, I think that'll impact the value of the nearly new FF's, but less so the older ones. There's a huge price differential between old and new FFs at the moment, I'd just expect that to concertina over the next few years, such that they're closer in value. Its a similar story with all past models.Clearly I am biased as I'd love to own an FF but haven't got 150k for one!

Congrats! One of the last FFs I assume? Not sure on the GTC4 UK launch date.
What spec did you go for?
Nero daytona / crema seats - yellow calipers, upgraded twin spoke diamond cut alloys, panoramic roof (now standard), apple car play, shields, rear seat entertainment, full carbon interior, etc etc. What spec did you go for?
