Just read the news over at autocar, I knew one was in the works but 200kg shed off the weight??? how do you think they've managed that?

It's going to be a hooligan, apparently not limited but with this possibly being the last of the N/A v12s perhaps a future classic?

Any one have any more info on the car?

Michael

there's a few people on here who have allocations and are visiting the factory to spec them in a couple of months, maybe they'll chime in smile

I hear it's going to be expensive.

Tend to agree that this is more likely hence use of "may".

Way too early for the 488 spider to be announced surely? I'm hoping for a more hardcore f12.

I spoke to a friend at the factory. 488 Spider today, F12 GTO to probably be unveiled publicly late this year for a Geneva debut next March.

If it is a 488 Spider/GTS perhaps it's so close to the 488 launch because Ferrari know that people will tend to want the Spider version over the GTB to the point of it affecting orders? Seems really close in comparison to previous models. Anyway, isn't the FF due a facelift?

allegedly the autocar figures are all untrue and the correct stats are:

"1415 kg dry weight, no GTO badge, stearing of the rear wheels, 780 hp, 0-100 km/h in 2,9 sec, aggressive Design, 230 kg downforce, electronically adjustable flaps at the rear diffusor, small wings in front, front bumper splitted, lots of Carbon Fiber exterior and interior on standard model, Looks very agressive, front wheels 275in! Car is beatiful and Looks analogue to the 599 gto vs the gtb; manifolds variable for better Compresion at higher speeds/ revs"

Leeds tell me they will get one or two cars only and I can't have one.

Conflicts with the rumour it won't be limited. :-(

Sound like some calls to other dealers are required.

I spoke to a dealer who said it wasn't going to be called a GTO as Ferrari didn't want to devalue the brand. They were getting two and preference would be given to those customers who would buy or have bought a FF or F12 recently. That's me out.

Will previewing it on 1st September at the factory. There's been much speculative coverage of it on another forum, hard facts predictably limited. My dealer who has invited me hasn't much firm detail to share. From informed comment on the web - and you probably have this already - it's going to be LE, not called GTO, will offer a significant improvement in power/weight ratio, and strong changes to cosmetics including a dramatic front splitter, removal of rear quarter-lights with probable cues to the 250 GTO and a new rear end, similar to recent styling projects. Price likely to reflect 599 GTO/599 GTB delta, so roughly 100K more on current. Deliveries early 2016.

Hmm I find that statement a little odd.. I love the 599 GTO, but what was so special about the 599 that it deserved the iconic GTO badge then?

That it was derived from the 599 FXX - and believe me that is a car that is not road legal - runs on slicks with a full aero package. The 599 GTO is a very, very special car. I'm sure there are a few owners on here that can testify to this.

I'm fully with you that the GTO is a special car, couldn't agree more. All lightweight ferraris are special in my eyes. I didn't actually factor in the 599 XX program. I guess on that basis, not using the GTO badge for the F12 makes sense.

Does it?

I thought the GTO badge was designated towards cars that they needed to produce to homologate racing cars to compete in a particular series? In that respect, the 599 was no more deserving of it than the F12 is?
