You just beat me to it!

Hopefully it doesn't look to much like that image, rear is abit of a mess... but the specs sound awesome!

I thought the GTO badge was designated towards cars that they needed to produce to homologate racing cars to compete in a particular series? In that respect, the 599 was no more deserving of it than the F12 is?
Indeed. Whatever the car is or isn't, there is nothing Omologato about a 599, unlike its two predecessors that wore the GTO name.

This gives a link to 2 much more clear photos of the yellow car, but also 2 photos of the online Configurator which were leaked a short while ago, but importantly there is a photo of what the front will look like.

Any further thoughts on this?

Don't know if any other prospective owners have been informed of this but I have been told that the UK allocation is only going to be 20 RHD Units. Thats what I call slim pickings, LaFerrari/FXX K owners get 'first dibs', although I have spoken to someone who has neither and has been invited to spec one - also ordered an standard F12 at the same time.

I think it looks great, and only 1 second slower round fiorano than the LAFerrari if anyone is bothered about that fact.

20 cars for the UK is very unlikely.

The UK is c10% of Ferrari's global sales. Rumours put intended sales between 600-800 units worldwide. Plus factory previews are already happening before and immediately after the August break for dealers, and an invited preview means you've been selected for a car. Too many UK previews for 20 cars.

Rumours on the car's spec/performance (and from the pics circulating) suggest the car is going to be sensational biggrin

That yellow car looks like a " production" model to me - as in the finished article and no disguise

I thought ferrari were usually good at keeping new models secret until launch?

Delivery in some 2016 and the rest 2017

If theres any dealer out there who can offer one of these cars to me please let me know,currently own a f12 if this helps at all,im not a person looking to buy and then sale on at greedy profit just looking to upgrade me f12.

Last of the V12's, massively powerful, needs more than 3 laps at Fiorano to master - what's not to like?

I think this will be EPIC! I'm sure that a few will end up damaged - but what a car!

Ferrari just won't sell me one, though!

I think it will be EPIC too! That was a rather odd piece in evo, particularly the conclusion. There's a much better written, more balanced, and evocative piece by Jason Barlow in this month's Top Gear magazine (even accepting his connections with Ferrari).

I've read the Evo piece again, and I'm even more confused. Hardly be getting one anyone. I'll just stick with the regular F12

From Travis Okulski excellent piece in Road & Track:

"The Ferrari F12tdf is a 770 horsepower throwback to supercar glory days. It isn't friendly. It's a challenge. As it should be".

and,

"The F12tdf is the sort of a car a beginner can drive but they can't thrash. The learning curve here is much steeper than a car like a 488 GTB".

The first time I drove an F40 my heart was in my mouth. I expect the same with the tdf. It promises to be an epic car indeed.

Similar thing was said about the 599 GTO by Clarkson when it was launched. Now widely accepted to be a masterpiece of a car. I think the TDF will go even further.

In a world where even the best supercar manufacturers are trying to make cars easier to drive quickly, (Ferrari's V8 line, Porsche's GT line plus the 918 is supposedly much easier then the Carrera GT and not to forget the most prolific proponent of all; McLaren, whose cars are ridiculously fast compared to the ease with which that speed can be accessed) Ferrari's flagship supercar has again been given a special version that flies in the face of the overwhelming trend. What a brilliant idea that is, and so fitting with its heritage - front engined V12's are what the brand's reputation was built on and all the greats of when F1 was new and 'pure' drove one. The TDF is one of the only modern cars that can achieve major velocity, but only in the hands of a skilled driver. It is therefore a car that rewards people who have bothered to accumulate a decent amount of skill.

That's not the same as saying it is a bad car because it makes 'achieving the same speed as other cars a lot harder', because I suspect there is added performance there, but only for the select few. To everyone else, it is a closed book.

I did a couple of pilota courses this summer gone. Most instructors preferred the Speciale, as did I. A couple though, said that they preferred the F12. Not a single client said the same - in fact it was quite a talking point; no one could get close to their time in a standard 458 when using an F12. Me included. The F12 is supposedly a couple of seconds faster around Fiorano than the 458. I reckon I was lapping the 458 at a decent pace and with enough practice could probably get within a few percent of the instructors. I was consistently about four seconds a lap slower in the F12.

And the reason a couple of instructors preferred the F12? "Because it rewards skill and is much harder to drive on track".

So the TDF - the King of separating the men from the boys! Oh yeah!

Note: problem is I'm still a boy....!!

I managed to get to the Advanced corse in May - I will do the Evoluzione course next year!

I preferred the F12 too, then the Speciale - and the 458 for doing J-turns, 180's, switch-back's and on water in the carpark!

You have to drive the cars differently - the F12 (Front engined V12) is much as it used to be slow in - f*cking fast out - as opposed to the Speciale (V8 mid-engined) - and the F12 control systems are all based on the steering angle - there is a lot of mass to control! The TdF will, in my opinion, be truly visceral - and will sound like grand prix's used to many years ago!

But they won't sell one to me! frown

An odd question, but if you were buying a tdf what would be your top three specs, in rank order? Just wondering. Cheers.
