I would just like to echo Frrair's points - it is much appreciated.

What I would like to know, is if you're treating yourself to a lovely TdF, what is the lovely Mrs Camlet getting/demanding biggrin

She's not into cars (but the GTO is her favourite F car), thinks Hermes is naff (Dior however is cool) and bae she moves mountains for the family. For example she arranged for me to spend private time with Muhammad Ali at his home, one of the most incredible experiences of my life; and she did it without requiring $$$. Mrs C is epic.

WOW!! That must have been a very special day, arguably more special than a Speciale smile Muhammad Ali is the greatest sportsman who ever lived, my hero. I interviewed Michael Parkinson once for a golf feature I was writing. I'd been allotted an hour of Parky's time; we spent 55 minutes talking about Muhammad Ali and Parky telling me about being at ringside for some of his fights. My friends tease me because I frequently quote lines from the commentary of some of Ali's fights. What a man.

I completely understand how Parky was moved, his interview must be one of the all time great pieces of Television. My meeting with the "GOAT" was in 2007 and again in 2009 when Muhammad came to Ireland and the UK. He is magical close up because he is exactly as you would imagine. There is a picture in my office with the two of us in the ring at his old home outside Chicago. He wanted me in the ring as a reward for something I said to him. Visitors to my office sometimes think it's a fake and when I tell them the what and why they just want to know the story from start to finish. Even my toughest clients. There is the outstanding The Ali Center in Louisville, it's a superb celebration of his life and the great work of the Ali Foundation. It's a long way to go but if you're ever in that neck of woods, it's definitely worth visiting.

Gives me goosebumps just thinking about sharing a ring with Ali and spending time with the great man. What an absolutely wonderful story. Thanks for the tip about the Ali Center. Will have to take myself on a pilgrimage there some day.

That's a difficult question. They have very distinctive characters even though the Ferrari DNA remains strong throughout. The 550 Maranello (with FHP) has matured into a beautiful GT, with its click-clack gate, epic handling and a V12 which pulls like a train. It's a very special drive and their uplift is well deserved. The Speciales are as previously stated, very quick, a joy to drive, sophisticated hooligans. The GTO has massive presence, it's a masculine car, it demands respect.....and that sound! The F40 is a riot on full boost, mental, there is nothing like it to drive or to look at. And the F50, actually this is an amazing car, beautifully sweet to drive, epic sound above 7500 rpm; if the F40 is a heavy night out with the lads, the F50 is strictly dinner for two.

You have some mighty fine cars in your collection, thanks for answering and showing how they all are different cars and why they are different.. may I ask why you dont have an Enzo to go with the F40 and F50..? Also I've just realised I've seen your 599 GTO in London outside Harrods the other year!

Cheers, we were parked up there a few times. Why not an Enzo? Never floated my boat to the extent logic departs. I was also told by a Ferrari dealer the 599 GTO was a good enough proxy for the Enzo. I will never know if that's true because the F40 and F50 were for me a heart-stopping must-have pair. The guys who have from the 288 GTO through to the LaF are in a different league.

I can see your point, although wouldnt the Enzo make that must have pair, into a better trio? tongue out

For me it's No.2 (in the new order), just looks "right" to my eye. But hey, I like black wheels so what do I know! smile

I can't wait to see pictures of the actual car at some point.

Awesome!

Very nice spec, and well thought through,
Blue leather hardly ever works for me, and I wouldn't have even thought of it, but it looks just right.

Thanks. Will wait for delivery and add stripe on rear if it feels right. And hopefully after the summer break we'll get our tdf's together. Will be a great pic smile
