Yes indeed and it's a CAT C car

At 40k that seems a great rolling restoration. C Cat back in the 90s. Should we worry about that?

Just saw a beautiful testarossa filling up at the Gravesend services on the A2.

A very pleasant change to the sea of mundane cars around it.

Problem with a restoration of any kind on a car like this is gonna cost bucks, even the big service is not cheap by any means. And therein lies the rub, it's cat c and always will be, so whatever you spend on it you are always going to have that on its record and that ultimately will affect its future value. But more than that, you will never really know the car and what's happened or been done to it. I'd rather spend another £15k on something right. Just my opinion.

Definition of Cat C: This vehicle was repairable, but the repair costs exceeded the vehicle value. The insurer chose not to repair for economic reasons.

Remember this was Cat C in the 90s, these cars were BIG money in the early 90s which leads me to believe that this car could well have been properly damaged. Wouldn't touch it with yours!

They do like a slow warm up, you can never be in a hurry to get away from a cold start.

Has anyone fitted any of the Hill Engineering parts such as the steering spacer, pedals or gear shift gate?

Yes, I have the Hill Engineering pedals, but they were fitted prior to my ownership. The quality is absolutely superb and they look better than OEM in my opinion, put it this way, they are not Halfordsesque!!
Pedal feel is really good and your foot never slips.

Ok great, they are going on the list, the originals aren't great and the throttle is slick so if your soles are given slightly wet it can be a little entertaining......

This one http://www.bonhams.com/auctions/21735/lot/223/ made about £43k including buyer's premium in auction today, subtract the vendor's fees from the hammer price and they don't seem to do very well out of it.

Stuck in storage for six years, you know it's going to be more than a major service to get it back on the road safe and sound.

I really want to buy myself a Testarossa - had a few Ferraris before ( 355 - 360 Modena - 360 Spider ) but mainly been into Porsches.

Does anyone have a nice one they're looking to sell ? Also does anyone know this car & dealer ?

http://www.vanrooyen-eps.com/used-car-ferrari-test...

Any opinions would be welcome

Thanks very much

I think the car is quite appealing visually with the 512M front end and the lower valances painted to match.

All depends how much you value originality.

Thanks - I've spoken to the company this afternoon and they tell me they have the original "nose cone" which can be re-fitted. The car has had 9 owners - should I be concerned about this ? ( not something I'm particularly bothered about - but does anyone feel this might be an issue on resale if I sell in the future ?)

Can anyone recommend a good pre-purchase inspection company/individual ?

Thank you

I can't help with the inspection recommendations but I wouldn't worry too much about the number of owners. Nine owners each of whom has kept up with their share of the maintenance should mean it's a tidy car. Buy on condition - if it's in good shape then that's all that really matters. The interior looks mint so hopefully the rest of the car is in as good a condition. Get it inspected and drive it before you buy it (not everyone gets on with them).
