Yes, far too many Testarossa’s with a silver horse on the rear (should be black), side Scuderia shields, lower painted skirts, and to top it off, a silver prancing horse on the front grill… correct me if I am wrong, but neither of these were factory options?
People make the same complaints about 348's - It's hardly the end of the World, all easily reversible, and doesn't destroy the value of the car rolleyes
Yes, each to their own… I personally prefer a classic car in it’s original setup… each to their own!
So if you had a classic Ferrari, that came from the factory with sodium filled valves that are prone to catastrophic failures, rather than replace them with solid valves during an engine rebuild, you'd rather fit sodium filled valves?

You'd never fit Hill engineering uprated cambelt tensioners, or an uprated water pump to a Ferrari, because they're not the original setup?

You'd never do an upgrade that wasn't original to the car, even if it made the car much better/more reliable to drive?

Or is it only superficial, cosmetic updates, that are easily reversible that you object to? confused

Superficial aesthetic updates… where some people slap as many Ferrari badges on a Testarossa to make sure people know it is a Ferrari. The fact that they are not reversed for a sale is even more frustrating.

Your above mechanical updates are exactly those that tell a different story about the cars ownership… i.e - the car has been meticulously cared for… but either way, this is all just my opinion and how I tend to look at cars when buying one… each to their own.

However nuts you think it maybe. in the world of concourse, it’s all about originality.

It's always an interesting argument of originality vs improvements.

I always try to keep as original as possible but recognising a few improvements will always make good sense. The example given above of replacing sodium filled valves with solid ones is an easy choice because this is an improvement Ferrari would have made themselves on a later model.

However, would I upgrade the rubbish brakes on my 308 to 328 brakes for example? Not sure. If I wanted the improvements on a 328, maybe I should have bought one!

Same for a Testarossa. May well be my next Ferrari but do I go for the original (and it must be original) or the later and better 512TR?

Never a lover of red even on a Ferrari but have to admit that it's the right colour fot theTestarossa ,

Looks like a sports exhaust?

If you don't mind me asking how much does Mike and Phil charge you (ball park) for a routine service.

Thanks Rat Rod, and yes a sport exhaust (came with the car), which sounds super.

Happy to let you know about the servicing but please drop me a PM message and I'll answer as probably not fair on QV to post publicly.

Love the Testarossa! - Have done since they first came out .

I always remember the spy-shots of the test cars in Autocar magazine......:

.....and wondering what happened to the cars paintwork.

Thanks to Miami vice, and being 17 years old at the time, I'd want a white one though:
