Just been quoted £485 fully comp for agreed value £45K.
Is this comparable to what anyone else is paying?
I have mine at an agreed value of £30k (although probably worth more now) for a GTBi but I only pay £239 with A PLan insurance. They're on the FOC website. Worth a try?Is this comparable to what anyone else is paying?

I might suggest you have it underinsured and would struggle to replace it if the worst happened.
Think you have a point there. Although the car does have 90k miles on the clock? And let me tell you, mileage definitely does not affect the car, only value! Drives sweet as a nut!Jonty355 said:

QYes, I tried several. The comparison websites all came up Admiral the cheapest at the slightly unbelievable £140 a year! When I called them and went through the details it shot up to £445 somehow?
Footman James were over £700 so decided to stick with Hagerty through my broker. They charge to cancel a policy but last years doesn't finish until the 25th so technically, the new policy won't have started so should get a full refund.

How ol are you out of interest? When I was phoning round for quotes on my 308 in December when I bought it, most quotes were around the £2-300 mark. I'm 30, but I'd already got the 355 which I'd had for 6 years. How many miles per year are you limiting the policy to?Footman James were over £700 so decided to stick with Hagerty through my broker. 24 with a 355, good going. I was still dreaming about owning one back then.

I think I have the 308 restricted to 1500 per year, so that might help too. Wondering whether its worth upping mine or not on the 308. Not sure what a 308 GTBi with 90k on the clock is worth?
Given how mileage sensitive the 'collector' market is and the fact that its an 'i' I doubt there's much wrong with your current valuation - maybe add 5 at renewal if you can get someone to sign it off otherwise you'll be paying for a valuation they'll dispute/deny in a worst case scenario
Does anyone have any idea of how many 328's GTB and GTS there are left in the UK ? Is there a way of finding out ?
Going back to the original post re values - how colour "sensitive" are values - interesting to see the blue car at Joe Macari for sale for £60,000 - also how significant is mileage and also whether a car has ABS or not ?
Just interested !

Personally, I don't think colour is a massive factor, although I may be prejudiced as I do like the blue as well as red.
The mileage on the JM car is nothing and will have no impact on pricing.
Again, personally, I would rather have an ABS car. If everything else was the same, why would an ABS car be less desirable? If people tell me that they can brake better in a non-ABS car, I'd be suspicious of that. If they said there were failures of the ABS system, then I haven't heard of them.
I understand that carb cars are more desirable because of the sound, but I'd personally rather have a car that starts first time, every time and try to get the sound with a fancy exhaust system.
I'm not stating a fact about the carbs and am happy to corrected, but just stating my (current!) opinion.

ABS is the first of a very long list of modern driver aids. So it goes against what is wonderful about the 308: mechanical simplicity and reliance on pure driver skill. I've certainly had ABS issues in other cars. It's just something more to maintain. The mileage on the JM car is nothing and will have no impact on pricing.

£45,000. Thanks to whoever left it to sell with the Ferrari Centre! I was going to wait and sell the 599 in a few years time and then buy a 328, but I couldn't wait, prices are moving too quickly. If ever there was an example of power is not everything, then the 328 is it. Totally analogue, totally additive in a totally different way to the 599.

Apologies in advance for my ignorance, but when you state GTBi, you are referring to a hard top non-carb car? Therefore 86-onwards?If you are prepared to part with your car for 30k then please send me your phone number!!
There were only 1,300 GTBs against 6,000 GTSs, and the GTBs were probably better driving cars. Coupled with the reduced production numbers, some of the GTBs would have been raced, and therefore written off, meaning less were available now.
I would hazard a guess that your car would be in excess of 60-70k.

I can understand the reluctance to have driver aids, but it seems strange to have driver aids adversely affect the value of a car.For example, could one not just disconnect the pick up and not have the ABS? Does the fact it's there really affect the value of the car?
Maybe it does, but for me, I wouldn't bother about that.

Yes ABS. I prefer the non ABS rims but that is nit picking and there are not enough 308/328s around to be choosey.
Isn't it funny how the majority (52 yr old me included) think the 308 chrome switches are so much nicer, and then comes along a 30 year old colleague and raves about the 328 instrumentation. Everything has it's day it seems.

I love the 328's microswitches but I love the 308's toggles and levers even more. Somehow the microswitches look forwards to the new generation (Mondial/348/TR) and for me don't suit the car's resolutely mid 70s styling.
