308/328 Values
Discussion
Good to see strong advertised prices for the two or three 328 GTS's which have been listed for sale over the past 3/4 weeks. Those recently listed are all very low mileage cars, a couple listed as POA as usual. Does any know the asking price of the 6k mile, 1989 car at the Henley based dealer?

I'm not sure that's right, I'm certain the 599 had the Enzo type engine with chain drive cams and the 612 was the last of the older type engine with belt drive cams?
Spot on Bertie. The 612 used a reworked 575 engine. The 599 uses the Enzo's engine architecture, and is indeed chain driven....We went to look at a couple last week. Sat in them, looked around, and thought "who on earth thinks this is worth 70k?" The conclusion was "speculators".
The 348 (at about half the price) was much better inside, felt better put together, and was a pretty good drive (if only I could sort the metal gate), but in the cold light of day the following morning as I jumped in the Maser and headed off around Wales, I realised a 348 would probably just sit in the garage anyway. just need to try a 355 now

So sit in a Dino and think 'is this really worth £300k...?' It is because thats what the market demands. Its not about driveability or build, if it was no one would buy old cars, end of. Paid £27k so not too fussed .
I agree with your philosophy! Congratulations on your purchase! Was looking for an early 911,but soon realised
I could get a similar vintage ferrari for similar ,if not less
money.
In my eyes the 308 gtb is absolutely gorgeous.
Congrats Paul - 308 looks lovely - its definitely a Euro lid on the engine. Have you looked into how to potentially change bumpers to Euro spec? I've heard conflicting reports between "straightforward bolt on" to "nearly impossible"!!!
I've been following exactly the same path as you - can you PM me?

Check the full vin # at a site like this to determine original market http://www.red-headed.com/vin.html The car may have been exported to the US, federalised and then returned to Europe at a later date.
There's quite a number of 3*8s offered in this auction:

Could owners be thinking that the market is peaking?

The thing with the market is that nobody rings a bell at the top nor the bottom..http://www.silverstoneauctions.com/nec-classic-mot...
Could owners be thinking that the market is peaking?
It just becomes obvious with hindsight.
I remember this being said when 246s broke the £100k barrier..
