Coys results are pretty unreliable.
I wouldn't place much significant on any of Coys' results. The True Greats auction in London last year was hands-down the most disappointing auction I've ever attended. They had a 512 BBi for sale there that had mud caked all under the wheel arches. I was astounded. There were other cars there that didn't seem to have been cleaned particularly well, too, let alone shown a decent polish.
The refreshment set-up was like something out of a school fête. About 20 mins before the auction actually started, they had run of out drinks. Not a particular drink. All drinks. No food was available. Now that may sound trivial, but I don't know how they expect to achieve any top results if they've got a room full of thirsty, underwhelmed bidders.
Contrast this with how RM puts on a show, or even what Nick Whale's Silverstone set-up does, and Coys now lags behind every other auction house in my eyes.

I missed that one but the few I've been to were similar in terms of badly prepared. It's all about presentation. I walked past cars that I would have been tempted by in a proper environment and that's not good for anyone - buyer, seller or auction house.GF328 said:

I'm still trying to find out what the 400i advertised on ph sold for (10th Jan at NEC). I've even emailed them but no response. Anyone know?
As a owner of a 308gt4 for the last 20 yrs and having restored it myself and just finished a full suspension rebuild again. So easy to work on and I know every nut and bolt will undo and its cleaner underneath than on top!! I will say I have a good one. I am glad they have started to become appreciated and values are increasing. Though if we remember back in the late 80's/early 90's the prices were about the same so looking at what wages were back then to today they are still good value. Would I sell mine after all this time? Not sure, though I keep wishing values still increase to where it would be tempting to sell to pay the mortgage off. I would then look back on the last 20 something yrs with fond memories as a young lad in his early 20's and where life has taken me and the Ferrari. Its been more reliable than any female relationship.
Be interested to see how this one does on Saturday http://angliacarauctions.co.uk/en/classic-auctions...

My 308GTB is going into the Silverstone auction at race retro in Feb, unless I'm offered something I can't refuse. Will be interesting to see how it does after last years sales. Watch this space.

The estimate of 47,000/52,000 doesn't look that ambitious in the current market, I hope it flies for you. It will provide a good indication of the market as it looks like a very straight car.Not sure if it's been discussed previously but Foskers now have a glass 308 up for a whopping £155,000 (admittedly it looks to be in absolutely mint condition) and a 308GT4* (also well sorted) for £75,000.
I think these fit into my category of 'ambitious pricing'
- Foskers did give their justification of the GT4 pricing in an earlier post, fair play to them.

£155k isn't excessive if its a nice car, a really correct fibreglass 308 in my opinion should be around £170k or more Not sure if it's been discussed previously but Foskers now have a glass 308 up for a whopping £155,000 (admittedly it looks to be in absolutely mint condition) and a 308GT4* (also well sorted) for £75,000.
