I joined the M40 this morning at around in freezing cold conditions (-7 at one point) at around 7:30 this morning and spotted a stunning classic Ferrari in my mirror... but what was it?

Against the sea of monotony on the road this morning it was a welcome sight!

Looks like a 250 to me.....cant tell if it's a replica - or a lesser known coach builder.....

Sorry to burst any bubbles, but if I'm seeing the registration correctly as BPR706A, it comes up as a BMW Z3 Roadster...

Can't see too much detail in the photos but doesn't look like a bad replica to me.

Interesting!

First time i'd seen one on the road (replica or real!). I have to admit due to the weather conditions I was a little surprised to see it out and about.

Yes, you've read the plate correctly.

Oh well - it put a smile on my face this morning

That'll be a 'replica' from a company called DNA

Yep - you're correct. It's my replica created by Brian at DNA.

But who recognises the corner of the car behind - no number plate to help you this time.

Looks like an AM DB7. Most likely a Vantage judging by the wheels.

Looks good but I am not a fan of replicas be it Ferrari, Rolex or Ralph Lauren. At least you haven't endowed it with Ferrari badges and prancing horses afaik.

Alas I didn't have £10m+ for an original - I agree don't badge a replica. It's not a Ferrari, just a very pretty car.

But that's what spare time is for ... staring endlessly at beautiful cars so you inadvertently gain the ability to identify them from relatively ambiguous areas of bodywork. biggrin

Stunning!

I recently sold my old Z3M roadster that was fitted with a 7.1L stroked LS3 engine - now that DNA body on my old Z would have made for an interesting combo!

I spotted you (several times). Would be good to get a copy of the movie if you could send me a link.

Let me see what I can pull of the dashcam (it overwrites every 120mins so i've probably lost most of it (i pulled a couple of files to get the screenshots though).

Funny thing is, I don't really like replicas, yet I own a Suffolk C Type Jag which is plain awesome.
