My disappointment with main dealer servicing continues. Many years back i had a shocking service carried out on my Ferrari 355 by a supposedly reputable Ferrari dealership in Sheffield. After spending nearly 2K getting the belts and a service carried out, i later found out the sump plug was left loose, causing leaking oil. They also hadn't put a cover back on correctly that covered the spark plugs etc which ended in the car mis-firing. I told myself after that i wouldn't use main dealers again for servicing as it had left me with no faith in them, especially with the prices they charge.
I recently purchased a Gallardo with low miles and full Lamborghini main dealer service history and was advised to keep it so for resale value. I recently had the car serviced in Edinburgh and when i got the car back, i was advised that the front compartment seal had came off and they couldn't manage to get it back on. This resulted in my holdall bag that i left in the compartment being soaked after they hosed my car down.
Although this may seem trivial, i believe that being charged nearly 1K for an annual service (oil and filter) that a garage charging £150ish an hour would be able to put a seal back on. I have managed to get it back on today myself with the aid of a screw driver and a bit of patience. Disappointed with the level of service from these dealerships is an understatement!!

Sorry to hear this....

So much is made of this seal, I never found it hard to reposition....

Agreed, maybe if they charged £175 hour they would be able to replace it......

Interestingly enough that exact dealer washed my F430 Spider....with the pax window down 2 inches. Pointed it out when I picked it up. Took a few days to drive the car out and get ride of the smell (as it had been left overnight!).

Personally I wouldn't expect the staff at this place (dealer at the Fort?) to be any different. You might expect it and the dealer might expect it but TBH I reckon they're just as hamfisted and prone to errors as any other dealership and their staff.

Been to that dealership with my 430 last year, was okay, good bunch to deal with but this year tried elsewhere.
Check out Stuart Roden just outside Edinburgh if you want an alternative, he was team principle for scuderia eccose GT team.
My car needed a major service and geo. along with a few niggles done, wishbones and rose joints were suffering from 4k miles of crappy roads last year, I don't grudge it one bit, it was great fun.
Anyhoo, Stuart has charged me about the same as the minimum dealer price for that service but carried out more than double the work and included the parts required.
Although my car has full dealer history, I think this guys experience, particularly with 360s and 430s, should preserve the value of an older car just as much as the dealer.

I know every main dealer won't be the same but it just doesn't give me much confidence for future servicing.
Thanks for the information on the alternative outside Edinburgh, i will keep him in mind for the next service. Cheers

Used an independant on my LP560 for the first time this year (Backdraft Motorsport).

Main dealers have never done anything to inspire confidence for me.

Used a good rec'd indie every since car was out of warranty. Best thing I ever did. Do far far more on an annual than official Lambo dealers do. You have a mechanic on your car with 30+ years experience and not so kid on a yts.
Get a good one and you'll wonder why you ever went to main dealers. Resale value? load of old tosh.
Personally I'd be wary of a main dealer serviced car after seeing what they miss and what they consider to be "simply normal use sir" and "oh, that's to be expected sir".
No brainer IMHO...

I've had issues previously with main dealers and although my LP has complete full main dealer service I will be getting mine done at the supercar rooms and will tell the new buyer come selling time that I did this to get the best results. It won't effect selling price at all.
Prospective buyers want peace of mind, they are rarely won over by speal these days.

I can vouch for Phil & his team at PK Supercars in Cockenzie, which is about 15 minutes east of said dealer.
