I took a local kid to his prom earlier this year in my lambo.
He text me back saying he lost his virginity that night thanks to a girl he has liked seeing him arrive in a lambo.

I smiled to myself and to me it was worthwhile helping the lad out.
He'll be after you for help with child maintenance next wink

I thought it was more likely to be Josh, but then I read the lad lost his virginity ... to a girl. So maybe not.

That's one way to burn through a pile of money very quickly, although I suppose not as quickly as buying one of the cars!

Then lets stop beating around the bush.

How much are you willing to pay ?

Are you going to take out an insurance policy to cover the driver , as his own current policy certainly isn't going to cover it.

laugh

Okay then, so that'll be a couple of hundred quid max then ?

I don't even think you're going to be able to sort the insurance issue... so this is just a complete waste of time. Do you really think someones going to risk a driving ban to take your son to a wedding ?

Either pay the going rate with a legitimate hire company, or forget the idea...

Please excuse me but I have to ask just who do you think you are? Not a very nice person as far as I can judge...

Like I say... I use my car for charity things at every opportunity but I just feel that its a piss take that someone is expecting a random person to drive their adult son to a wedding and not even pay anywhere near market rate. And expect them to drive uninsured in the process laugh You're mental.

70proof... I wouldn't be pissed off at all. I'd just think you were a complete mug, so feel free to do it laugh

why a mug..... I enjoy driving my car, if I did this, I'd be driving..... all she's asking for is maybe an hour max of my time..... also, I am happy to share my car with others, even if it means giving them a ride..... I've given upteen strangers a spin around my way...... I've always loved lambos, I know what it was like to be on the other side.....

a good friend off here not only gave a stranger a ride in his f40 at one of my meets, he let him drive it FFS! because he could see how much it would mean to him..... no money changed hands..... I don't think what a mug, I think what a hero.....

I think what people, are trying to point out are practicalities:

The owner would have to:

Keep the date free - cancel any upcoming plans, etc in the middle of summer
Clean the car before going
Drive to Stoke on Trent
Hang about picking your son up - pictures, etc
Drive to the wedding
More pics on arrival
Hang about during ceremony
Potentially more pics afterwards

Then leave and for what? Fuel would be covered by the couple of hundred quid I presume you're willing to pay but what about time?

There's then the very valid question of insurance.

There's a reason why hire companies charge so much for something like this. Whilst I understand you wanting to do something to make your sons days happy, you can't expect someone to give up a morning, etc for less than the going rate when they don't even know you

Charity is different. You (and your son) are, I'm afraid, not a charity case.
