love the story of an ever increasing budget.. been there twice! LP defo the way to go from a looks perspective imho, though pre LP cars are very good.
problem is you end up convincing yourself that its the better deal despite spending more money I paid up and looked big as they say basis the cheapest LP I could find advertised was £90k for a 2008 28k mile car in not a particularly to my eyes nice colour or interior, a 3 year newer car in the right colour with all the right bits for a bit more has to value right ?Quick update on mine after the first 12 months of ownership.
Just to get you in the mood for tomorrow.

Ok then, back by popular demand ….
So for those that have been following my story, I finnally picked up the car from Lamborghini Pangbourne on Saturday, I went down on Friday night for the xmas party and stayed over in the very nice local B&B so I was ready to roll first thing Saturday.
Craig (the sales manager) took me out the back to the newly built workshops where the new baby was sat with the all important black cover keeping her warm, it was a heavy frost overnight and still only about 3-4 degrees as we took of the cover I am so glad I went for such a stunning colour.
Craig then fired the car up and took round to the front, a pal of mine (50volt on here)who has been with me on all recent aqusistions arrived as we all just stood looking at the car, craig suggested we go fill the car up ready for my 2 hour journey home and that he drove to explain a few things and I drove back from the petrol station.
As we pulled out of the showroom and up the road for the first time I couldn’t believe how quite and smooth the car was in normal mode, like a 911 turbo in many respects not as harsh as a GT3, still very cold out craig took it sensible and explained a few of the toys to me.
When we arrived at the garage to fill up I took out my card to pay only to be told it was down to Craig to fill up as part of the package, nice.
So now its my turn, I left in auto mode for the 5 mile journey back to the showroom taking it very steady fully aware what 560 bhp and rear wheel drive could do to spoil your xmas !, even in auto mode the car is so responsive but also blips on changedown, it would be hard to argue the case for manual or paddles on anything other than a supercar the box is that good, feet / pedals are a bit offset to the left for my liking but guess will get used too, I found I was sitting a bit low in the car due to being a short ar$e I guess and couldn’t quite get my arms in the right place but all in all not a bad place to be, we cautiously arrived back at the garage to collect said mate for journey home.
So bidding our fairwells and thanks to Craig for a great service and buying experience we set off on the hour and a half or so journey home, some good luck and constant use of the iphone weather app all week ensured a dry but very cold day, we had to use the M4 and M25 for most of our journey home so with that and the simplisity in mind I left it in auto mode for most of the journey bar a little play around for half a mile or so, used the sport mode a few times which transforms the car into more akin to a GT3 ride and the sound is just awesome, again I stuck to 70 ish as most of the 4 and 25 had 50 mph speed limit for a change and in fairness was probably best for getting used to a new car, as expected due to sitting low not the easiest of things to look out of rearwards or rear ¾ view, mirrors excellent, reverse camera can be turned on anytime but I found it not the brightest of views, arms were aching a bit as nowhere to rest them whilst holding the wheel …. Maybe just me.
We finnaly pulled off of the motorway and I stuck into flappy paddle and sport mode for a little play on local roads I know well for the last 5 miles home, jesus does this car go and sound so good, best part about the car is the downshifts and the blipping throttle all new to me, just love it.
Arrived home to show the mrs and son and put the kettle on, the 4 of us just stood looking for what seemed like an age, every time I look at the car I see something new was mates reaction which kind of sums it up nicely, took said mate home and had a little play on the way, so quick, thinking now why would you bother with a DMS upgrade ha ha.
Back home and took the mrs and then the boy out for a spin, both impressed as they gripped the seat for dear life !, boy loves his technology so was in awe at the reverse camera and lifting gear as well as the sport button and downshift demo ..
I think the little computer thing is telling me 18 point something mpg which I guess is not too bad, ipod connection in glovebox with a proper holder is nice touch, am waiting for new sat nav disc to arrive as someone has lost the old one which is annoying as cant connect phone without it I think ?, had a little drive on my own for some bonding time but wanted to ensure car was home before dark to fit in garage for the first time, it does fit a 7 foot opening no problem but you have to fold in the mirrors.
Pushed the car out of the garage Sunday morning to give a clean, first thoughts were how clean the car / colour looked even though it must be filthy, then proceeded to give her a little bath with warm water, lovely, wheels look superb but as expected a bit of a pain to clean and moreso in black, leathered her off and another tea break just to stand and stare for a while ……
Started to spit with rain so pushed back in garage, then spent half hour connecting the life support system (battery conditioner) which I hard wired direct to the battery in the front boot space, then gave the car a little polish and finnaly put the cover on her so she doesn’t get cold and put her to bed till April no doubt ……
Will remove wheels this weekend as I have sourced a Torx T80 bit to remove wheel bolts and then clean inside of wheels and calipers off properly.
Finnaly a big thanks again to Craig and his team, for doing an excellent job.

was a bit tongue in cheek and would like to use if dry and salt free on the occasional weekend but in reality if you actually worked out how much those rare jollies cost just in road tax for instance it gets a bit silly.
as a rule I generally take the toy off the road for the worst of the winter months, appart from the cleaning time and salt corrosion factor you also have to think about the chances of someone else damaging the car in bad weather.
I can wait

You might be right about this. I think I drive my car only about three or four times over the Winter period. Not sure if leaving the car sat idle though does it much good. Do you prep the car or just leave it clean and under a cover?as a rule I generally take the toy off the road for the worst of the winter months, appart from the cleaning time and salt corrosion factor you also have to think about the chances of someone else damaging the car in bad weather.

Clean and on trickle charger yes, will start up a couple of times and run until hot if I don't use itThose of a nervous disposition, look away now......
This is what a Gallardo should look like at this time of year:
OK, you can come out from behind the sofa now; I've washed her:
and put her back in her "garage" (at least, until Monday morning):
FWIW, I do have a garage, but the toy car lives in it:
