Well I wanted a car that I would be able to keep for 10 years and just enjoy, looking at all the obvious choices the Performante won me over on looks, noise, soundtrack and the overall character that it offers.

I love the car but my problem is I just like trying out everything, scratch the itch i guess. Should I try and get past my itch this time ? and how?

Are you in a position to keep it and get something else as well? I suspect it may be the one you regret selling a few years down the line.

What a strange post. Asking strangers if they know your mind better than yourself. Cars are an emotive personal choice, that only you can answer, not random Internet people.

Yes I can keep it and hope to get a new 991.2 GT3 next year to go alongside, just sold my mental 750hp Nissan R34GTR so do have a space in the garage! you could well be right about regretting it if i dobanghead

Performante is an awesome fun car and holding its value well against Huracans now at £160k.

Yes it feels a little dated and agricultural versus the latest supercars but the sound of that N/a V10 and gear change certainly have character in abundance.
I don't think you will get a car that sounds better down changing from 3rd into 2nd.

Very difficult to replace it so I would keep it if you can afford to run multiple supercars.

What are you considering replacing it with or what would be your upper budget if you keep it as well.

Surely a McLaren 12C/650S spider has to be on the top of the list of considerations

If there's nothing else that immediately makes you think '... damm, I'd rather have that' then personally I'd wait. The Performante is a special thing.

What ... one of those boring McLarens with a nasty carbon tub?
Aren't they the new hairdressers car of choice...

What a strange reply... We aren't random Internet people - we are like minded, automotive fuzzy thinking, PH car nuts

My take on predicament - squeeze another one in. One can't have too many motors !

No it's not. Would you trust anyone to pick a car for you keep for ten years? I certainly wouldn't. And that goes for my best friends let alone strangers on the Internet. Are you in a position to pick his car, any more than he is to pick yours?

No that's still the Lambo and their poser owners.

You mean the glorious carbon tub that ensures no compromise between coupe and spider because of its strength and rigidity at minimal weight - yeah that's badass.

Would never buy another spider without it after having a carbon tubbed McLaren now - simply brilliant and for me a underappreciated USP for McLaren at the supercar pricepoint

As one person summarized on here we are all similar, car nuts, enthusiasts albeit different at the same time! I am just asking for opinions, other peoples thoughts,a look from a different perspective. I could drive myself mad constantly buying different cars and I admire to a degree people who buy what they want and then just keep it. Aren't forums here for this very reason.

To me the days of fastest doesn't mean the car gives you the best experience,I could have bought a more technically competent car than the Performanate but the Performante offered the better soul and character.I still love the car, just asking for alternative opinions as I struggle to stick with cars long term.

Maybe the Performante will be the next 16M, I've not driven one but they cant be a World apart when comparing the spec?

Maybe I will regret selling if I do, maybe I will stick with it!

Hi Juno,

As you say it's about sharing thoughts and experiences. So to share. I sold my 570-4 SL four years ago when I went to work abroad. Like your Performante I absolutely loved that car and worried about how I would replace it. I'm now back in the UK and have taken delivery of a Huracan 610, with just 1,000 miles on it.
I've been completely blown away by how good the car is. From studying the wonderful design features such as the subtle double bubble roof to the mundane stuff like filling the tank in one go without multiple shut offs.
The acceleration and double clutch gearbox are a revelation, the Satnav much improved, the TFT display brilliant. The interior has such clean and distinctive lines, no undue fuss just subtle and beautiful.
There will always be advocates of old skool is best, fair enough, but for me the advances are enormous and user friendly. You can actually drive around in Strada Auto whilst you soak up the design features, listen to the (sports) exhaust and enjoy the positive reactions of other road users and pedestrians, whilst you wait for the opportunity for Sports or Corsa manual.
Try it if you haven't already and of course Lambo have just trade marked Huracan Performante!

I think the Performante (or generally the Lambo spyders) are among the few cars that look good as convertibles.
What is the budget for a replacement if you decide to move it on?
For a different experiece - what about an F12 - glorious engine
A 991 RS for the track performance
A Speciale if your budget is that high
An LP640 to stay with Lambo

To be fair they have dropped quite a way now with 650's in the 150 range. That said and while the McLaren is a technical fest, looks wise against the Lambo it's just not got it! My humble of course but I've spent the last couple of weeks looking and considering a Mac and while I know they're massively capable they don't give me the fizzz!

Nothing strange about this. I've often struggled with the 'keep the Scud or sell and enjoy numerous options out there' question - if you cant discuss here with like minded others then you're on the wrong forum mate!

OP - For my similar situation (if this helps) I've decided to keep the Scud as it is just too good to let go (plus has that added classic status) and squirrel away the cash to add the second car - in this case (hopefully) my names down for a 991.2 GT3

I guess we are all different. If you have the intelligence, business acumen and wherewithal to amass the funds to purchase cars such as these, I'd expect you to be decisive and single minded enough to know what you want, without resorting to help from strangers on the Internet. I know that nothing would sway me from my car choices once I've decided on what I want.
