Why can we just admire the fact that:

1. The Lambo is bloody fast around the ring (With Marco Mapelli at the wheel)
2. You can still order one.
3. That the game has moved on since the 918 was launched - and that I'd expect the next gen cars from Ferrari, McLaren et al to be capable of a faster time at the hands of a talented driver...

I think the Performante is a bargain car for the money, the 720S is going to be stunning and that Ferrari will be something special with the 488 Speciale........

Well that's a rather funny quote, most of the things that I have said about the Performante from very early on seem to have come true!

I started a few threads on the very subject, however RL decided he wanted to contradict every potential new improvement of the car, for what Mclarens sake! And I turn out to be the villain of the piece?

Anyway I can certainly agree with most said on Anjuns recent post it's what I've been saying for a long while!!!

One thing though, I'm still here at Geneva and the Lambo dealers phones are of the hook. I have been told that I will get a car, JUST and my deposit has been in for a long time and I've also paid my second stage as well!

From what I am hearing I very much doubt you will have any chance of ordering a car now but good luck!

Even my early stage deposit still leaves me towards the mid to end of 2018!!!

It looks like Lambo are prioritising the US market first for deliveries of the HP. The first ones should arrive there in Summer 2017.

I am sure any dealer will happily take an order and a deposit.... when you get a car is another matter....I reckon the line will be making this gen huracans for at least 2 more years

Its not the aero... we agree on something.... the various changes incl of suspension have vastly improved stability under breaking, which means greater confidence .... and driver confidence is a massive part of any timed lap... The lap was set by Sport Auto journalist, Christian Gebhardt, who has since said the Huracan was massively impeded by the ABS system. According to Gebhardt, Lamborghini’s configuration of the ABS system is optimised for Pirelli P Zero rubber, not the Torfeo R’s that the Huracan was wearing at the time.

Add to that new trofeo compound....

I understood the the lap was set by Marco Mapelli (Lambo test driver)

I believe he's referring to who set the time in the standard Huracan.

70proof is pretty knowledgeable about these cars and I'm sure he'll be aware Mapelli set the Performante time.

Never you mind

October next year if you order one now. A certain dealer, last time to I spoke to them, has 40 orders already.

...And that's now been beaten by a McLaren P1

It's hard to keep up...

(I still think they are utterly meaningless)

I'm not sure what point is being made here. Both cars quoted are made in a handful of numbers and cost well in excess of a million dollars. At least the Performante can be called a genuine production model and will be sold in the hundreds if not in excess of a thousand cars and cost literally a quarter or less than the above.
It seems to me that a few people really do find it hard to accept that a mainstream Lambo is capable of such lap times and have to cite frankly irrelevant comparators. But then again I am an unashamed Lambo fan boy. Has anybody mentioned the engine noise in all this?

The mac is aftermarket modded to be road legal is it not... lanzette or something like that... ridiculous to try to call it a production road car

The Mac P1 LM is a race car.

Nio itself says the EP9 time is not a production-car lap record.

Huracan Performante still the world's fastest production car round the Ring.

Juno and RamboLambo are exceptionally talented at ruining threads on here.

Re: the P1 LM. It is not a race car but is rather a new derivative that has been approved for road use using Individual Vehicle Approval (IVA) in the UK. In essence, it is a mixture of the P1 road car and elements of the GTR with a 4.0l engine and modified aero.

Re: the Performante. I was rather cynical about it at first but, after seeing and reading a few reviews, and looking into the aero-vectoring, it seems that it is a bit of a weapon! The tech they are using is rather cool.

That's slightly disingenuous surely. The P1 LM is very heavily based on the road legalised P1 GTRs rather than the P1 road car and P1 GTRs are not race cars as there isn't a race series for them and were designed to be track only cars with less of the compromises the road car had to deal with.

Well said. It seems the aero- vectoring inspires considerable confidence in the twisty stuff.

So what colour has everyone ordered ? Matt orange of the launch car with bronze nardis wheels ?

How do people feel about white or red even on the Performante coupe with the bronze wheels ?
