Lots Of Sour Grapes About Performante 6.52 Ring Record

WOW that's shocking. I know that most manufacturers like to slightly exaggerate their claims but that is careless! Typical VAG mentaility
Pretty damning stuff....
Do these times have to be authenticated and adjudicated?
I mean, regardless of fact or fiction, Lambo gets loads of attention and discussion....which they must love.
And just like Trump vs media, if you chuck enough crap around the truth whatever it was gets lost.
Some people will always celebrate this game changing moment
Some people will always poo-poo it.
But does this time 'stand'...
when the next marque goes quicker will we/they say that they've de-throned the Hurucan? thereby giving authenticity to it?
there has never been any come-uppance for any manufacturer who has bent, twisted, manipulated or ignored the 'rules'...
Or is there an official list that includes the times that people don't squabble over?

Fastest laps website is great for comparing cars over various circuits BUT several posts do not come from credible or neutral sources so always open to debate over legitimacy.
IMO the closest body to an authority on the ring is Autosport. They have two or three drivers and conduct extensive testing to ensure the cars are not manipulated from customers' cars. Not to mention by maintaining the same drivers you can assume that is constant. Till Lambo let Autosport test independently they could post any lap time they want and people with any sense will understand it's to be taken with a pinch of salt.
Off topic we live in a society where people read the headline and just because it's written on their Facebook page or car forum the majority of people take it as gospel. For some reason the general public have suddenly forgotten about the importance of the source.

OMG. That's pretty damning but no surprise. I guess they decided on what would be an unbeatable time by the opposition in the coming timeframe and product cycle and edited it accordingly.Unbelievable the lengths they will go to

Having viewed Misha's analysis, I would have to agree. The Performante's lap time appears to be bogus, which is shame.
Or just plain CRIMINAL depending on how you look on it. I don't suppose people have put orders in based on a made up ring time though. Everyone knows these cars bare no resemblance to customers production cars.
Its a big PR stunt to hype up the car but looks now to have backed fired on them

Brilliant, that made me chuckle. Obviously that was Lamborghini's first take and may have got rumbled too easily. Cheaters always get found out and with the fake ring time going viral its likely to have caused more harm than good for Lamborghini. When a PR stunt has gone bad - Honesty is the best policy.
Cmon Juno where are you ? Lets be having you, try and defend the undefensible now

I think Rambo's post references an older one he made with his cars parked in front of a house/garage and the comments it got. .... I think I spend too much time on here
I understand his reference but based on his general demeanor on here the 'humble abode' comes across as a patronising and snide "I'm considerably richer than yow" point scoring dig. "You spend all day watching super cars go by, so your a security guard and spend a lot of time in a hut
You obviously want to own one, you're jealousy wreaks which is why you say they are all st
You clearly don't understand engineering because you spend so much time in a shed
I know who you are,
"
It goes along with many posters wanting to know what a contributor drives by way of justifying their 'knowledge' or 'opinion'. Hoping for an opportunity pour scorn...
I imagine there are a number of well educated experienced opinionated types that drive lower order or less expensive cars and an equal number of douche bags owning the more valuable coveted ones...

Juno? You were right all along
The heading now becomes very prophetic
My guess looking at it is that they have used the fastest sector times, forget the data because the speed might not be synchronized with the picture. The moving of shadows is more in line with sector times as it could have been done over several hours taking the best bits from multiple laps. The heading now becomes very prophetic
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3fenethPfk
The software I use as above will split the track into multiple sections and at the end of a test I can just add them together at the push of a button to get the fastest theoretical lap of the session.
So in essence if the driver makes a mistake or (hits slower traffic) he doesn't have to do the whole lap again faultlessly to show the ultimate Lap.
Now i do believe a lap should be a lap so if they have tinkered then I'll have my deposit back Lol
No on serious note my car wont go near a track as I don't track any of my road cars I always use the race car,it won't effect the way I use the car on the road and I ordered the car before I knew anything about the Perfas Ring time!
I will ask the questions in Geneva next week,I was told 1-1 that the record was theirs.
At the moment I'm not agreeing either way that they did or didn't do it in one go but its still bloody kick,it appears to hit 304KMH and you would expect the Porsche to be quicker here so there are discrepancies if the data overlay is correct.
The question is not just one of terminal speeds but for how long that speed was held into a braking area!
Lets see what Lamborghini say?
However the Lambo does handle better and looks far more controlled, the Porsche looks more like a ride by the seat of your pants
