I went ahead and ordered the larini sport cats. Now if I could get the car soon. Next couple of weeks will be painful smile
Let me know how you get on with these please. Also, what was the total cost from Larini, incl delivery? You can email me if you don't want it public

Cheers. I will let you know.

I ordered from Larini website. The "clubsport catalysts" are £1956. From what I have read, they are 200 cell hjs. The catless are £650.

I filled in a form to place the order, it didn't ask for any shipping cost. The form seemed like one of those enquiry forms rather than an order form. But I did have to fill in card details are delivery address. But no delivery options came up. The CATs are in stock though.

Yeah same thing with me too, it didn't 'feel' like I was placing an order. Also, it makes reference to VAT needing to be added too... so expect a +20% uplift before they even add shipping

Yeah, I guess the £3k cost is just what needs to be done so you have to suck it up. It saves a £20k rebuild!

As for the exhaust mod:

i've also seen this mod undertaken from above, without removing the rear grill

i switched back after a few weeks though, as i like the sub 3500 rpm relatively quiet mode for motorway miles

Interesting to note. Then it must be quite loud in reality.

How do you access the pipe from above? I guess in front of the spoiler by removing that cowling area?

I suppose you could also clamp the other end of the vacuum line? I know they do that for Ferrari Californias. Rather than go under the exhaust box (which is one way), you can clamp the red and black air line in the engine bay. (Don't quote me on that - if any Cali owners are reading this, do your research first!)

Yea, just realized VAT will be added as well. But whenever I have ordered parts from abroad, I get hit with VAT and customs. Now wondering if it were a good idea to have bought locally. But couldnt find any resellers and no ebay hits.

I will try and find if any uk vendors sell it locally and will cancel the current order.

Could try cats from https://www.profusionexhausts.com/ (not a recommendation as such). Might need to speak to them.

Thank you. I might ask them the overall cost of fabrication, but i am sure it will come with lambo tax. The CATs are very reasonably priced but never heard their name. The Larini ones look like jewellery, very sexy.

True. Let us know what they say. I can't really advise but I'm assuming as long as it's a 200CEL cat you're fine? I guess there's the issue of flange size... as with anything. biggrin

Saw these online but something tells me that they may throw up an EML as they're straight through pipes:

biggrin Yea, I am sure they will handle any flange size. I will ask and feedback. I dont have experience with lambo exausts, but with BMW M, they do lead to EML with 200 cell and non-HJS or other reputable brand cats.

Definitely EML. They are not clear whether these are for LP or Pre-LP. But looks like pre-LP.

You're right, according to the blurb... "Fits all Lamborghini Gallardo vehicles (2003-2004) First Generation 500HP"

Anyone on here fitted their own sports cats on a Spyder? I've seen a few vids online on coupes and assume it must be similar on a Spyder or even easier as more access?

I read somewhere it's possible to remove them via the wheel arch. Having done it I have no idea how that's possible. It's not too hard but you will need the exhaust off and airboxes out

I'd say that would be tight...videos ive seen online show exhaust still in place but the clamps are accessed via the wheel arch. I have a four post ramp so that's not an issue but would be nice to not have to take loads off. Also interesting seeing people on some forums about decats saying they just change them over each year for an MOT...seems like a lot of work!

on my spyder the wheelarch option is hindered by heatshields which are attached from the engine side so its a no go

They never responded to my email whether these would fit 2008 Gallardo, which I sent three days ago. Also sent an ebay message and asked if fitment is guaranteed. I think they would fit but i am very new to these cars so am not sure. But their lack of communication would put me off buying from them. In case the fitment is not great, it would be a nightmare to return them. I know how much of a pain these non-fitting exhaust can be. But at least, I dont have to be lying underneath the car.

I also cancelled the Larini sport cats order as I was in two minds whether to go decat and tubi or not. But now, the more I read about decat fumes and lack of low end torque, I am concerned that these would bother me if I use the car regularly. Also, I dont want the car to be a boombox. I like loud but tasteful exhaust mods. My G82 M4 was obnoxiously loud and its not a great sounding car at all. I realized this on the day i sold it as it was driven away by the buyer.

I have a bit of time as I dont even have the car yet.

I am sending emails all over the place looking for a cheaper alternative to larini but got no answer from anyone. Have requested quotes from profusion and powerflow exhausts and I guess I need to make a bit more effort and pick up the phone.

I can see the only real option is Larini cats (or similar). Anything else is either a risk to your car or a hassle (with MOTs).

I didn't get a reply either so have written them off. IME places like this respond better to a phone call than an email so I'm going to give my local Powerflow place a call next week... they made a lovely straight pipe for an Evora I had so I'm going to presume that a 200 cell cat or two isn't out of their remit

Are Larini still in business?

I saw a video of a epic sounding exhaust that did for the Guilia Quad, but the companies house address for Larini UK is some address in Warrington or other and I'm not sure if it's just someone who has bought the name and knocking together exhausts in his shed these days.

I wouldn't hand over any money until you have established who they are trading address etc.
