Thanks. Exactly how I wanted it to be. Its not embarrassingly loud as my exhaust has a couple of resonators.

Hey again smile

I am a big fan of the superleggera white dials and compared to them, the standard car's black ones seem very boring. Ferrari's are much better. Do you think its an easy enough job? Anyone changed the dials with something like these:

congrats on car, just scanned through the posts.

I have a 2008SL bought mid 2019.

mods, larini cats - as its seemed a sensible thing to do
Replaced all the clamps with Hill engineering ones as they are top quaility (used them on my 355)
RWD conversion, make the take off smooth, makes the steering lighter especially at parking speeds - quick easy job and easy to reverse

Brakes as stock carbon and work very well, bit dull when cold though, sounds like you have a vacuum issue
Throttle response, lots of people use the spring booster , but have never bothered with this, car for me is fine the way it is,
steering should be light like a normal daily car, so something amis with yours, tyres, tracking etc sounds like

I changed alloys to hurcan 19' plus did front LP570 upgrade and rear upgarde, (rear is difficult and expensive) front easy.

I have no rear camera, but never bothered me, but I do plan to do the navi upgrade. plus the stereo is crap, needs a woofer amp etc to make it sound good.

Replaces every wishbone bush onto the main chassis and the bottom ball joints and drop links.

good luck with the car,

Cheers mate. Thank you for replying with such details. Appreciate it.

Man for me the SL1 is the best Gallardo and such a special car.

I have the larini cats on order and due to arrive soon. In the meantime, I have installed test pipes and I dont want the sound to be any quieter. I guess I have to make a compromise as passing the MOT is a necessity and cant go through the torture of installing the oem cats again. I did reuse some clamps from the rear oem muffler and some from the cats. I drilled the screws out and replaced with stainless steel ones from B&Q. Luckily i had an appropriate drill bit which I previously used for my M4's boot and that thing was impossible to pierce. So the drill bit survived the operation.

My car was examined by RE performance and no issue with the brakes was found. I still struggle to stop the car when i drive it after a few days. I have a 2007 honda civic hatch for daily driving and the brakes on that are miles better. I dont know whether i should change to Girodisc discs or have a second opinion on the brakes. The steering is better after the wheel alignment. There is also a steering rack leak which I am planning to fix next year. Also got myself some sottozeros with good tread and hope they should carry me over the winter until I get PS4s in spring.

Can I ask where did you refresh your suspension and what did it cost you?

Thanks again mate.

I used a specialst in Broxburn, Scuderia Ecosse. They looked after my Scud, and very detailed with all work they do. I would need to dig out the old invoices, but from memory it was over £3k including oil/filter service. Each wishbone has two bushes, 8 wishbones, so 16 bushes at over £100 each adds up.

On your brake issue. Two things to consider , 1, are you existing pads glazed , (take them out and use some fine sand paper on a flat surface to take the shine of them. or are they contaminted with oil/wd40 or something thats not allowing them to bite. (which you wont be able to see ) 2, The one thing that I noticed when I first for the Gallardo was that coming to a stop, you have to select netural or the car keeps wanting to move forward so you are in effect trying to brake the car while its still driving, (my ferraris did something simliar but to much less of a degree - it became second nature with the G to click nuteral about 20yds before stopping, just made things smoother and you arent fighting the engine ? just something to consider.

The one other thing that can cause a problem, (and it was a known fault on Ferrari 360 and F430) never read about it on lambo forums certainly. there are two non return valves in the brake master cylinder. they can jam and it gives you a very hard pedal but you lose servo assistance. so hard pedal and very little braking, happened to a pals F430. I have been told that if you stop pressing the pedal when its hard, release and then press again often it clears the jam and the brakes work. so something to try next time your out. (it was more of an intermittent fault though - but guess it could happen all the time). worth trying few times.

regards
Scott.

THank you very much mate. Sorry for replying late.

Excellent points and advice regarding the braking. I will definitely get on it. From looking at them, they do look glazed. Great idea regarding sanding, will do of course very carefully. The brake feel is a bit difficult to describe, it is a bit hard but not terribly hard to make you tired. Let me try the method to clear the valves and will report back. I have been driving the car at every opportunity and have been getting used to the braking. But I have also been trying to get hold of girodisc fronts but they are nowhere to be found. Will maybe try the reyland ones but not much feedback about those. I am also considering bleeding the brakes again. Last time was the first time i did it and I think there may have been usually high number of air bubbles when I bled them. The bottle had an air leak when i connected it with the air compressor. So a few things left to do.

Refreshing the suspension would be my next move, hopefully next year, after I do a full service myself.

Cheers mare.

This. And are there any issues with MOT or EML?

These are Cybox test pipes, mate. Its strange that I have only had EML for removing the stock exhaust with valve-less one and I get error for an exhaust valve stuck open. Had this before fitting test pipes. Have not had any errors related to the test pipes but I have not driven more than 100 miles on these. Will see. But these wont pass MOT.

Possible, mine is a huge improvement (manual box though so experiences may vary)
I think I may be another with a faulty unit - my car came with the sprint booster fitted, the little control unit subtly mounted next to the steering wheel.
I turned it off one day last summer, didn't notice any difference and so have left it off - I'm not really sure what it's supposed to achieve to be honest - the car won't idle cleanly with or without it lol
