THanks mate. I think I am goind to back the car out of the garage enough to use the centre brace to lift and use jackstands. I have 4, so should be enough to keep the rear up.

I saw a video of someone taking the left one through the wheel well. As far as I remember it was a coupe. From what i can see, looking at the engine bay, I think it would be really tight and the cats are just too big for the wheel well, unless I move the suspension out of the way, which is not happening.

I have a electric ratchet so will at least reduce the time needed to remove all the fasteners. I will still try to break free those rear clamps when I do the exhaust, will inspire some confidence when the cats arrive.

Oh yea, thanks, I will get the O2 sensors as well. I think they were last change a few years ago.

Thats brilliant mate. i was looking for the part number. Its actually quite cheap being a lambo part.

I am hopefully going to finish the task tomorrow. Now I have a plan how to jack up the car and remove wheels. THanks again.

Not sure the engine bay will be the problem, it’ll be the rearward travel of the exhaust on its mounts. It’ll depend where the xpipe exhaust sits in relation to that rear cross member, to get enough clearance to clear the neck of the cats.

The donut gaskets are some kind of ceramic, if you intend to reuse dont let them fall out, they will explode when they hit the floor

Oh I see. I guess i will know tomorrow when I install the exhaust. But if there is not much space to move the exhaust back away from the cats, it will be another bumper removal. Its such a long process, too many bolts. I found one that was stripped completely. Hope i will be able to get it off or drill it out tomorrow. Thanks i will keep an eye on the clearance.

Thanks for the heads-up. I am hoping to reuse the exhaust side ones but will change the ones on the engine side. I heard they disintegrate as well. But the larini cats eta is 11th november

Job done but had one issue. Couldn't keep the oem tips as the xpipe was in the way. See pic. I want to cut a bit of the aftermarket exhaust so I can keep the oem tips. They look better. Should I give it a go with a dremel or will need something more heavy duty? Also I think if I don't do that, the exhaust will melt the grille.

Took me three hours just to remove the bumper. There were so many screws, stripped screws, different sizes in the same location, what a nightmare




The exhaust fitment is great but the tips are too far out to interfere with the oem. So had to remove them as above.

I had a look at the engine side clamps on the cats and wanted to loosen them. But man the angle on the clamps is such that I could get a good grip on the bolts with my long extension. This will be a project.

There is enough gap to move the aftermarket exhaust towards the back to let me pull out the cats from above, provided I can get the stubborn bolts out. Guess that will be another day off from work.

Wowsers. Nice effort. Think I'll just get Autofficina to do the work when I finally get hold of one.

Speaking of which - every now and then they appear to have more cars on the forecourt than usual. Do they host regular events in the middle of the afternoon or something on a weekday?

Hat off to you, I'd probably have lost the plot with the bumper alone! Still, that will be easier to remove if it has to come again.
What does the new exhaust give you? Louder sound, freer flowing, more power, plus looking more impressive? Is the sound level switchable?

Thank you. I was questioning my decision when I had to remove hundreds of screws just to get to the bumper. Still not something I would want to do again. But still worth it to save a few quid in my view.

I have never been to autofficina. Never been to an event as I am quite an introvert from the start

Thank you. It is a long task requiring a lot of patience and if you are unlike me and like to keep tools organised then it would be much simpler. I had to check different tool sizes and then throw them back and would look for them again.

The exhaust, I got it for the formula 1 sound and honestly the oem exhaust sounded a bit like a hoover, especially at cold startup. The exhaust is unfortunately not switchable. I am pretty sure it's a huge weight saving as well because the original was damn heavy.

it's definitely louder and smoother. The original exhaust sound was a collection of rattles, clicking sounds, hissing, etc. But the new exhaust now has a more uniform sound and higher pitch. But from inside the cabin, I hardly noticed any difference.

Regarding the brakes, there is definitely something wrong as I drove a bit more today. Bad idea to go for a drive 4pm on Friday. Was stuck in start stop traffic. But man it felt like a bull on a leash attempting to run off at every opportunity. At one point, I must have been doing 10mph slowing down through the gears coming to a stop, when I eased a bit off the brake as I was almost stooped anyway. But the car jerked forward as if I floored the throttle and I had to brake hard again. Kind of reminds me when my old rusty car had a brake fluid leak and the pedal was really soft, not stopping the car.

So in short I felt it was a bit dangerous to drive. Had to keep a lot of distance from other cars. The only form of braking I could do were hard and eme4gency but normal braking not possible.

I really need to bleed those brakes and refill. Might give me some idea what is going on. Exhausted today but tried to do this today when the brake reservoir cap fell behind the frunk lining and I gave up. Sunday it is then.
