Happens quite often. Infuriating.

Also, clicking "More news" on the front page takes you to a blank page...

The problem isn't with the mobile site, it's to do with the main site.

Basically the mobile site interrogates the main db with any query (ie "look at this page" or "post this message") and it has a maximum query timeout of 4 seconds. So when the site is running sweetly it'll be fine, but as soon as there are any delays you get that message, whereas the main site will just keep trying until it gets a response.

We need to get the main site working properly, and there are various things in the background which the tech team are trying. I know that it is enormously frustrating, but at the moment all I can say is that we are working on it, and hope to have a solution soon.

Yes, it can be frustrating! I don't use the mobile site anymore because of it.

Yes me too. Very poor software full of glitches, other mobile sites I use are faultless.

Three in four page load attempts at the moment. Switch from mobile sit on iPhone to full site on iPad and everything is fine. This issue has been there for a long time.

This seems to have been going on forever! Can the mobile site query timeout be extended as a quick fix?

It would be the obvious solution, but we use a third party to provide the mobile technology which powers the site and apparently that's as long as their box can wait.

We're finishing off the classifieds as the first job and we hope that this will improve things by taking a significant amount of the load the current site deals with elsewhere. Once we've done this, the mobile site is the next job.

Once again, my apologies. We're all keenly aware of how frustrating it is.

It will work better in that it won't timeout. Obviously you've got the fact that the UX isn't built for mobile, but I tend to use the main site on my iPhone anyway tbh.

Nope same problem here, really difficult / random access to threads when using the mobile.

Edit - only been a problem for me over last few weeks, mobile site was faultless before that ...
