It was very easy before to look at the motorsport items in the classifieds.... seems now to have gone backwards, sadly a PITA now.
Would you like to explain how it's worse?

Seems easy enough to me. Front Page, Classifieds, Motorsport, click on race cars or rally cars etc

You can browse in exactly the same way that you used to and either ignore the filters altogether or just add them Very sparingly. confused
No you can't . It used to be classifieds , Porsche , 964 look at the newset ads then back to Porsche without having to go all the way back to classifieds again . Now it's back to the start , Porsche , 993 , put the postcode back in . It takes forever when it used to be direct . Use the options sparingly ? well what's the point of having them if they mess up the ease of use . Sure I could type in exactly what I want , a white 964 , 1993 so I get an airbag ,black leather , a sunroof , full service history , stainless exhaust , slightly lowered but not too much , 16 inch D90 alloys and I want it less than 5 miles away . That would only take me a couple of minutes then I'd discover there were zero cars with those options .Each time I visited I could choose those options and get the same result so I browse but it's not the pleasant experience it used to be .
I tried selecting Porsche and then the relevant years so I could search for 964 and 993 together , I put 911 in the keywords box and what came up with them ? 944's , 928's and 997's . None of those insurgents had 911 in the title but they still appeared .
And what's with having to click on each page to make the scrolling work ?

Where's the locations in the ads went ? There's all manner of useless info like number of cylinders and 0-60 times but not where the car is . I already know how many cylinders a 911 has , I dont need reminding .
You've designed a website for the 14 -16 year old teenager , all clicks and gadgets ,full of options they'll never need . But the numbers look good . The thing is that age group dont buy cars , they can't drive yet despite having an accelerormeter and GPS tracking on their phone .

Hmm. Would love to know details of your filter system. We have definitely deployed a fix for the issue with Adblock, so I'm surprised if you can't see them still. What's your browser, and are you working for the NHS or something?

I can't upload images to the classifieds any more because they are over sized.

Can anyone please suggest an easy to use image resizer?

Why cant the image uploader resize automatically like other websites?

Apologies if this has already ben answered elsewhere but the search function doesnt work either wink

Many thanks

The image resizer has a bigger capacity than it used to, but you'll still need to resize for upload. Your home web connection will also probably be quite slow for upload, so it's quicker to resize first. To be honest when I used eBay a couple of weeks ago to sell some camera equipment I gave up with the desktop site altogether as I couldn't get my images small enough....

Anyway, what computer are you using? If you're using a PC then I'd recommend just using Windows Picture Manager to resize (you could select one of their auto reformat sizes like Desktop or Email, or choose your own).

If on a Mac, use Preview to open the image and resize it. Easy enough, and plenty of websites online if you search "how to resize images"

Yes I know and it works but is it as simple as it once was . NO . It's nerdy , it's uselessly technical and quite pointless when it means everything takes longer .
It might be brilliant from an web designer point of view and yes I can probably choose if I want red with a rollcage or silver with no sunroof but the stuff that was once evident as soon as you selected the page has disappeared into a sub menu that you have to choose each time you look at anything .
If you want smart ass options how about rust free and HPI clear because they matter more than drivetrain configuration .
And what's with clicking on each page to make it scroll ? Is that an option choice too .

This is quite possibly a cause of the image quality issues. Really the uploader needs to process the uploaded images to resize them to the correct size for the site (and never enlarge them). Otherwise you end up with the browser trying to scale images for display and that's never good.

Asking users to resize their own images will result in either them not bothering or doing a bad job of it, both of which reflect badly on the site.

Although if I tried to upload raw images from my DSLR (or even for that matter at times from my iPhone) using my often crappy upload bandwidth I'd be there forever, so it's a balancing act between those two things.

The problem is that that simplicity made it next to useless unless you actually wanted to browse. It's not perfect (Having the make/model checkboxes on the initial classifieds model list would save a level of faff.) but it is a huge improvement IMO.

And annoyingly the rust free and HPI clear options rely on seller honesty frown

Eta: you could start with "browse make and models"

Thank you for the reply.

I agree it did take some time to upload but at least it worked. Resizing images is annoying when advertising 30+ cars on multiple websites.

Something like Photoshop will allow you to do batch resizing, so it will take seconds on a modern PC.

Ah you're a trader? Why don't you drop me a PM via my profile and I'll get one of the sales team to give you a hand.

Sadly i have now let all my trade adverts finish and will not be using this website anymore

I never thought i would say this but ebay is now the place to advertise

Pistonheads has taken away the ease of use for browsing and using it to advertise

The new system is far to complicated and the new look is no where near as nice as the old one

What a shame as i found it a great website to use or simply just browse for fun

Paul ( north yorkshire rs spares )
Spot on Paul, People found pistonheads easier in comparison to ebay/autotrader in terms of generally browsing through the classifieds, but supposedly there were alot of "faults" with the old style, in my years of using that style I never had one problem, however in the last few weeks I have had more problems with the new classifieds.

I now find it easier to browse through autotrader, thats how rubbish this new system is.

Just my 2 pence
