sorry wavey

i did start off my posts on the subject the other day that there didn't seem to be much in the way of evidence on the mccanns but i have been pointed in the right direction by PH for further reading on the topic.

it is very interesting however & i feel that questioning discrepancies in evidence that has been widely published is not litigious.

Suggesting that someone was spirited away on a U-boat is loony.

Wondering how a child goes missing from a locked apartment with no sign of forced entry is just logical discussion, no?

Free legal advice - suggesting that people murdered their child, sold her off, or killed her by accident and lied to investigators about it is defamatory.

Saying "allegedly", "no offence", or adding smileys doesn't get anyone off.

The loons have probably referred you to some other loon sites, written by loons. Almost everything on the internet requires to be diluted in a solution of 4000% scepticism.

Out of curiosity I've just had a look - what a bonkers thread!
Ok, there are a few wannabe Poirot's in there but also some who believe the McCann's have serious questions to answer.

It's not all about wanting to make G&K suffer and that they should burn in hell. It's about speculating what happened to that poor girl and why. We won't ever know I suspect, but it is still a fascinating case.
As a poster to the thread I would have to agree.

Of course, there is the odd 'murderers, rot in hell' type comment, but I would have to say that these are few and far between, and often posted by posters dropping in and making their first post to the thread.

The point of the thread itself is actually to discuss the McCann's continued use of the media - with the last resurgence in the thread to discuss that the McCann's were now spending a vast sum to sue someone - whilst by co-incidence there is the New Zealand 'sighting' at the same time. Of course, in discussing that, new posters wade in and bring up the subject as a whole, but that is to be expected.

PH has and always will have posters which cross the line - and they get moderated. However, I would like to think that the majority of PHers are moderate individuals capable of reasoned debate of what is a contentious topic which ironically currently is now about free speech as much as anything.

Rather than various polarised websites set up to either support or destroy the McCanns, and members with an obvious polarised remit, I would like to think that PH allows more rounded discussion, and there is a use and benefit of it remaining open.

I have (no doubt foolishly) ventured into the thread itself, but I shan't stay long, as I prefer my tinfoilerey to involve at least one lot of Space Aliens.

BTW, I came across a loony site run by a member of my profession the other week, who maintains that Madeleine McCann was taken away in a U Boat (yes, I did say a U Boat) on the orders of some Nazi spy organisation, to be provided to a paedo group of EU bosses in Brussels. Well, that clears that one up then.
It is the thread of ever deepening madness, outrageous claims and effervescent theories it is NOT the place to be seen.

He sounds just right for that thread, send him a link, it's what the thread needs really, an educated king-sized savant to lord it over the lunatics, a madmans madman.

Come on, there is plenty of in-depth speculation verging on obsession in the PH thread, but nothing like that.

You are discrediting yourself by claiming anyone who would even consider questioning the McCann's version of the events as loony. I assure you I am not loony and I certainly question it.

BV... 'they' are coming to get you... anyone who says they're not a loony almost invariably is.

It should not be removed. It's a very interesting and huge case that we, via media and the parents. Have had pushed on us for many many years. The case is made even more interesting as absolutely no leads or answers exist. This obviously means some wild theories get bashed around but if that's always going to happen.

The McCanns have enjoyed support at the highest level, and a good following amongst joe public. But there are probably as many ordinary people who are not convinced.

Outright defamation, & hopefully Breadvan72 will point this out to Mods, should not be tolerated, but otherwise it remains an open case IMO.

Perhaps PH needs a 'Nutters Theories' section, using the McCann thread to kick-start such a place gives it nine-league boots from the get go.
Yay that! Can we have David Icke as Guest Moderator?

My first thread there will be "Space Aliens stole my keys, and it took me ten minutes to find them".

I'm a little confused now. Are you concerned by PH leaving itself open to a libel action, or are you just intent on taking the piss? You see, it appears that you've rapidly moved towards the latter position.

Oh yes, a match made in heaven if ever I saw one, with your mate on board we could have 'Lizardoids on U-Boats' and that is cherry ripe for picking if you ask me.

BV, just out of interest - in the 29 months, how many times did you try and prevent people making defamatory statements, or alert mods to the fact that such had occurred?

PS: the closure may, at least, add some grist to the conspiracy mill: "The McCanns have even got to PH. Is nothing sacred?"

I agree, the thread should remain.

Talking of wild theroies, what if the child was abducted as the McCanns say? Given there is no proof/evidence, it has to be just as unlikley as other suggestions.
