On a laptop using Chrome. Some pages I get an advert which shows and it seems to be coming from a different provider, usually it is something for Money Saving Expert.

Thanks that blocks the third party adverts but I still get 6 PistonHeads you may like links with a blank space where the advert was. So I still get the annoying pictures but PH get no benefit as there is no advert, I really can't understand why they are continuing with it.
Seems to have worked for me ... I just put a text version in of the post above so people could copy and paste into the raw data section of adblocker

I've noticed they seem to have the same st on Autocar (branded 'Recommended for You'), so presume this must have been a Haymarket decision rather than PH.

I suspect that is positively clairvoyant. Too much of a coincidence not to be true, Which makes removal by PH improbable I regret to say. But I have no doubt that is the source.

Check out a PH article and count the adverts.

I get 20

1 at the top (honda)
1 long one top right of right column (sky tv)
5 yoou may likes on the right column
1 underneath the article to the left of the ph meter (honda)
9 you may likes in a grid underneath the article
3 google text ads at the bottom

I still think it's embarrassing at work. Seeing pictures of cars if a boss walks in is just ridiculous. And people at work can't install adblocker etc.

What I find out is that every other ad seems to change but the "Passat Power" ad, which I get every time.

At this rate I may even have to click the link!
Hover over it and you'll see a "close window" cross in the top right hand corner of the ad.

If you click this, you get an opportunity to report the advert.

If you click on "offensive" and submit, you won't see the advert again.
I notice that I can no longer choose an option as to why I don't like a particular advert....

That's odd, they just grey out for me.

ETA - this could be because I use Chrome at work (no options) but IE at home (options)?

So, reporting ads / links as offensive is now ignored I see.

So now I'm not even allowed to be offended?

I know everyone's given up on this but this is what I see at work. Not unobtrusive imo.

rofl

I think I may have defeated the non-PH content in the ad banner. I'm having a slow day at work today so have been on here a lot, and have casually 'x'd every non-ph ad, except the "best 100 sports cars of 2013" banner, as I may indeed like that.

Now, whatever page I click on, that's the only non-PH ad I get.

The system works!

ETA - if I 'x' that ad will PH explode?
