Too many adds trying to load I suspect, auto trader having a field day I expect, I'm not against change but when the new version is so much worse it seems daft to ruin a fantastic site.
I tried finding a few cars tonight and it stated none in this category for 5 different cars.
Hopeless and the survey tab is really pi####g me off

It is such a shame that it's ended up the mess it is today

A combination of factors Have ruined what was a perfectly usable and great classifieds

Bad layout / format
Masses of 'adverts' & pop ups
poor selection criteria
Constant crashing - just makes you go onto Autotrader so self defeating

And today we have a new screw up

Check "make" selection we now have tons of old crappy makes to make searching even harder

I don't want a Borgward or Trabant

Just awful and if you raise concerns I doubt your views would be welcomed

I don't know if it's just me, but I think there's definitely been a change in the type of adverts since PH/Haymarket started charging for them.

Yes, the prices are probably a bit more realistic, but there seems to be less variety.

........and now Watchfinder has ruined the watches section. Another thing I'll stop browsing frown

PH has done an amazing job of sending most of their customers to other (better) sites hehe

My works ancient browser won't bring up pictures and aligns everything very bizarrely.

Working hours used to be my best browsing hours!

Another person here who used to browse the classifieds daily, but find the new format just too cumbersome and slow to use, with Ads taking up too much space etc, especially on the ipad.
Don't bother now frown

Have always used PH to sell cars, but if I can't be bothered to browse the classifieds, I'm not sure its the best place to sell anymore. Off to Autotrader me thinks to sell current car.

This.

I don't have a PC at home anymore, only a tablet.

PH is miles and miles behind AT for reading classifieds on my Tab 2 10.1, although quite good on my SGS5.

It is also really slow to load with all the advertising guff. I'm looking at cars to buy, not more fricking adverts that I will live with on the forum so long as it is free but do not expect when looking at classifieds and certainly resent the way they slow doing so down.

Don't even start me on that bloody Red Bull Air Race banner ad that swallows the whole screen from time to time...

Same here. Sold several cars in the past but not optimistic about them selling via PH in the future.

The new format is utter crap. It's funny, when I'm looking for a car or bike I scour Autotrader and EBay but sometimes surprise myself when I remember that PH still has a classified section! I certainly wouldn't bother using it to list a car for sale now, as frankly, who uses the PH classifieds?

They used to be a fantastic resource but they're useless now. I can't remember the last time I browsed at home, and the adverts don't display correctly on my work computer.

Who decided change was necessary?

I use it more so now but I do have a few issues with it.

I complained at the time about the new format but that was ill judged and impetuous on my part. I much prefer the format now.

What does piss me off, is the the amount of obvious con listings, the ones that offer a £15k motor for £4k and request that you 'don't contact through PH but email them' with an address listed on one of their pics, or the multi listings by traders wanting to buy your car, or a dealers multi postings of different marque badges, one after the other, a whole page full of 100! PH won't mind this one bit 'Ka-ching' but it's annoying, particularly if you have just listed your own private add only to see it pushed three pages down by trades multi listing.

It forces me to search select private adds, missing out on the traders who don't take the piss.

I think the PH classifieds is a standard format, Classic & Sportscar also use it on their site.

I much preferred the basic no frills look, it made browsing so much more accessible. I know a version of it still exists but it's not the default and not as user friendly. The various drop downs on the standard system are way OTT.

The old version was much better. Easier to browse, easier to find what you want, less format / display problems and less bloody trader adverts! The bike section seems to suffer from this, as bike section advertising is free, so there seem to be loads of trader ads touting for trade ins. "R1 wanted, just like the one pictured here!". Those things should be deleted.

I remember when the classifieds change was first implemented, and everyone said the new style was terrible, and loaded with bugs, so PH reverted to the old system. I still used to browse the classifieds for fun then, and I may have even considered buying a car from them then, but despite protest, PH went ahead with their harebrained scheme to force the new style on us. I've just stopped bothering now, AT and eBay is much quicker and easier to use. Even MCN's stty "For Sale" section is better.

I was just about to start a new thread on this, but saw this and thought I would vent my spleen here instead...

Really, how can a single person think they are in any way better? Ok as an IT geek you might think moving xxx bytes in 0.000466 seconds is an improvement, as is having a drop down menu for every conceivable option possible, as is having pop up screens for pictures etc..

However in the real world, YOUR CLASSIFIEDS ARE AN UNWORKABLE MESS!!!!! I have never seen such a shambles of a system, it is totally unusable on iphone or ipad, PC isn't much better.

Open your eyes & stop being pig headed, & just admit the classifieds are an absolute dogs dinner that would embarras a year 3 IT student. For the love of god put them back to how they used to be!!!! shoot

Reading the poll as I write this, 91% who use them less is a pretty spectacular disaster, and no doubt a huge amount more who have not voted simply cannot be bothered to fight with such a terrible system anymore.

I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm able to use the classifieds fine on my laptop, iPad and iPhone. I think most people don't like it because they don't like the categories. PH uses better means of feedback than this section of the forum, as generally people only go in this section to complain about something.

Try searching for a motorhome in 'Big Stuff'. Used to able to just click on Motorhomes and it'd list all the results. Now, you have to select Motorhomes & Caravans from the 'Make' drop down (which seems odd, but hey-ho) at which point it lists every commercial vehicle you can imagine. Just did it now and the top three results were an Astramax van, a horse box and a Transit. You then have to sift through.

So instead of one button to list all that you want to see you now have to find it in a drop down menu and get results you didn't ask for. There is no way to use that area like the old menus.

I was never a fan of the PH classifieds format, the newer version is much worse. It won't stop me from looking here though, a lot of specialised machines here that you dont find elsewhere.

This

What irks me is the lack of engagement from Mods on the topic, I'm happy to be cannon fodder for haymarket but I'd at least like some sense of them giving a flying fk what users think
