Why are there no quick tags?

Like many on here, i'm frequently on Apple's abomination - meaning that doing tags is a bit of a PItA at the best of times..

If you click the smilies link, and then a smilie, it puts that smiley in your post. So, if you have the technology, why not have instant img, url and footnote tags to save those of us on mobiles / tablets the 20 odd button presses just for img?

Can you explain this bit a little more?

There are around 60 smilies in the list, so couldn't have all of them. The short code for the smilies can just be typed in to instantly put them in without going through that list. Same with the formatting help.

So do you mean to add a button to put in the code to surround these types of things (like a bold button you get on most CMS)?

Or something else?

I may be wrong, but is the OP referring to a toolbar with various buttons to insert an image / emoticon / code etc.? (like most modern forums)

I'm after a quick button to put the [ img] and [/ img] tags (and url) into the text. On an ipad, those really simple tags take ages to type!

If a button (poss in line with formatting help, smilies etc) could give img and url, i think the PH world would be a nicer place.

I set up some keyboard shortcuts on my phone -

hehe becomes

php becomes [pic]

phpp becomes [/pic]
