Right I've set up a new classified account and linked it to my forum name.

Please just leave it alone now. Don't try to help, don't try to change anything just leave it alone.

He comes accross as a horrible individual.
If I was a horrible person I would be knocking on your door right now but I don't have your address, but the way this is going I will be linked to your account details soon enough so will have your address full name and phone number soon enough.

Look forward to meeting you. rolleyes
Just to clarify, you believe calling the admin staff fktards isn't horrible?

P.S kettle's on.

might be horrible but if what the OP is saying is true then entirely accurate

OP is still a rude individual.

How he acted is no way to put across a complaint.

Mistakes happen, I'm sure what happened wasn't intentional and as soon as it was noticed the team cracked on with resolving it.

LMAO...really

Lay off the steroids.

Or maybe just change to something more 'anabolic'.

As some muppet that develops websites and software I'd say the following:

1) I wouldn't take any offence to the OP's choice of wording, in fact
2) I would be using rather strong words myself if tasked to investigate this, especially the follow up 'we've fixed it' 'no, that's someone else again'
3) If I realised it was me that had messed up, then the language would get worse

You try not to screw these things up, because it's the law, out of professional pride and also because it's just good manners.

Remember, it's NOT the op who has had his information exposed (although, potentially he has), it's the other three people who had their details shown to some random on the internet. It's just that he's the only one to have noticed and done something about it.

If these there have had their contact details shown to other people, it's likely other classified users have. Have Haymarket conducted an analysis of how this happened, and identified any other potentially affected accounts. Have they taken action to stop it happening again? Have Haymarket contacted these three people to inform them of the data breach - remember, unless they are old forum users these people paid Haymarket for the classifieds service.

I'd be interested to hear how accounts are 'associated' with each other - I fail to see a way that you can safely do that given the small amount of information in a forum profile (I don't have a classified one so don't know what it holds).

Really don't see any need to speak to anyone in that manner over a genuine mistake, pick up any phone book and there's thousands of names and addresses. If I owned Haymarket (sadly I don't!) I'd consider that we'd never see eye to eye and drop you as a client/customer.

So, as the owner of Haymarket, you would expose my details to any tom, dick or harry on the internet, then ban me when I voice my justified concerns?

Sure, to say the guy comes across as a touch forward may be a slight understatement, however laws are laws...

It is possible in life to be assertive of one's right and sound annoyed - without actually being rude.

Let's put it like this, if I'm pulled over for speeding an the officer felt they could use such language just based on the "you broke the law" card I would be as equally unimpressed. There's ways you can go about things without needing to be little yourself in the process.

I would like to re-iterate that we take this very seriously, we have a fix going out for this on Wednesday. We have taken the process of temporarily suspending any account that can access others - something only affecting a handful of accounts, most of which have not been used for years.

The problem only happens one way round, so the OP can not have any of his details accessed by someone else, just he can see 2 other accounts that match a specific detail, as we have now temporarily suspended this account till Wednesday there is no chance of seeing other details.

Oh, and we have had worse said about the tech team on PH before on here, though I do not condone it (it is not very motivating for the staff at PH), it is a bit water ducks back for us.

James is correct to... erm... correct you Pete, in that you referred to the back of one duck. biggrin

He also may or may not be correct in the suggestion that there could be more than one duck's back in the PH Office.
