Auto Trader was part of Guardian Media Group until the start of the year, and GMG take their web stuff pretty seriously, as you might expect. They were hiring Android & iOS engineers when I last heard from them. The point is, development costs money and requires a proper team.

If you think that it isn't much cop on a computer wait until you try it on a 10.1 inch tablet. Absolutely dire. Pictures don't load properly and heaven help you if you want a TVR. 10 minutes scrolling down the list of makes...

Oddly though it isn't that bad on my SGS5.

I think I've said it before but one thing strikes me as completely bizarre about PH classifieds in that when you select a marque it automatically selects every model that they've ever made.

Who would actually buy a car like that? "Any Merc will do me, big or small, SLS AMG Black Series or B-Class".

Also, thankfully, I never have to deal with the adverts as Adblock Plus is the first thing I install after the browser. Painful experience on mobiles though, for the reasons stated. Adverts that move content around are a cardinal sin.

Just had another look at the classifieds on the off chance they might have improved....nope, still utter ste...well done on at least remaining consistant

I was on them a week or so back, at least they had removed the big fk off side adverts that were a big cause of most of the crappy, jerky scrolling.

Just wanted to bump this as there was some constructive feedback on this almost 5 months ago now, has any progress been made on usability enhancements? I see the same issues now when I try and browse, so wondering what the plans are.

I just tried to use the classifieds part of the website using my iPad - it just does not work. You can select a manufacturer but not a model, but even so it displays random cars - what a joke - the developers should be sacked. Utter rubbish. Why would anyone pay to advertise a car using this?

I am unsure how a statement like this helps, or how you are fully aware of how the structure of PistonHeads works that means you are confident that the solution you propose will solve the issue.

But happy to hear an explanation to support your remark.

Do you know of any problems where you get an error when clicking on an article on the home page on mobile? I always get an error and can never read them..

I think the classifieds are reasonably good but I use Adblock Plus, I couldn't be dealing with ads popping up all the time and moving stuff around. I understand that advertising monetizes the forums but given that people pay for ads there is no call for advertising there, even more so if it puts people off viewing the classifieds (which it clearly does).

The search criteria are better than any other site, the ability to band things based on power, engine size etc is a good feature. Where it lacks is a features section to give all the equipment (cruise control, leather, electric this & that etc) thus relying on the description alone.

Get this every time. This one was when I clicked the Zenos article but its the same on all front page ones. I can view the articles if I go through the forums and find the comments page thought.

We are currently deprecating the mobile site as it is run by a third party and not updated - though intrigued how you have got to that page? Assume you have the mobile.pistonheads.com set on your phone homepage?

We are currently improving the forums to work on mobile and once done will turn off mobile.pistonheads.com and everything will just use www.pistonheads.com instead.

Thats correct I have a little icon on my home page to take me straight to the mobile site although it probably defaults to the mobile one anyway?

I suppose it's just frustration because despite constructive criticism no change appear to have occurred.
