The problems with IOS & Safari relate to Javascript - with JavaScript enabled the classifieds work in that you can select make & model and find corresponding vehicles. if JavaScript is disabled then this does not work. However with JavaScript enabled the site is unstable and ads are causing new web pages to open. E.g.

I do not know if the above helps.
At the moment I think JavaScript is best kept off till this is investigated.I would be grateful for you comments RacingPete.
A quick Google shows that the link you have sent is malware... might be worth investigating your machine for this.http://rdsrv.com/newbidder/click.php?subid=236065n...

Well I tried to search for it but the search function has not worked.. for over 8 years
Can we add that to the list?
Added, though I am sure when we get out a specific sit search there will be those complaining that we got rid of the Google search. Can we add that to the list?
Forum search is due in a couple of weeks.

Whilst I accept it is possible, malware is extremely rare on IOS due to Apple's very tight control. I have not experienced any problems other than on Pistonheads so I suspect it is rooted in rogue web ads . However I will endeavour to find out the source of this problem.http://community.norton.com/en/forums/rdsrvcom-mal...

Just for completeness (and because I know we serve different ad schemes due to location) - are you based in the UK?RacingPete said:

I suppose it's just frustration because despite constructive criticism no change appear to have occurred.
Maybe, but the developers do a lot of work and are not idly twiddling their thumbs. Also they are not in charge of the advertising policy or prioritising the work that they do.I am happy for anyone to aim criticism at a higher level (eg me - 8 years in I think I should have been sacked 372 times according to forum posts), we welcome it. But for a junior front end developer reading this, it is not very motivational for them to want to fix things for the forum members.
The makes list containing manufacturers with no cars available is a good example - it's not the sort of thing that will ever sit high on the priority list as it doesn't stop anything working but it would be quick to change make the site a little more user friendly.

The more I research and look into this problem, it looks more like malware and not something our side. Though some further questions...Does this happen to you on different browsers on a Mac, e.g. Chrome/firefox/safari?
When you say it only happens on PistonHeads, is it all pages, just specific pages?

Perhaps the forum could be leveraged? A monthly poll with 3 or 4 options of bugs that can be fixed/features added - all things that can be done fairly quickly.

A sensible idea, one we have thought about trialing - such as that on other software out there where you suggest bugs and improvements and then get upvoted or not on the idea. The makes list containing manufacturers with no cars available is a good example - it's not the sort of thing that will ever sit high on the priority list as it doesn't stop anything working but it would be quick to change make the site a little more user friendly.
Happy for those to list below their top changes they would like and to create this.

Same thing happens with Chrome. Btw I am using an iPad, different OS from a Mac. It is difficult to test this outside of Pistonheads as all seems ok on other sites but other sites are not as heavily ad laden as PH.Does this happen to you on different browsers on a Mac, e.g. Chrome/firefox/safari?

Are most people here browsing using ipads?
I ditched the used car section with the Ipad, then ditched the Ipad as its limitations became too much of a pain, purchased a Microsoft Surface and all is now fine.
I am the same as you, since I got a macbook air I didn't find any need for my iPad.I ditched the used car section with the Ipad, then ditched the Ipad as its limitations became too much of a pain, purchased a Microsoft Surface and all is now fine.
Though across the site 16% of users are on iPads, but that is down from 16.5% last year.

I finally tracked down the issue to the Router. It seems that the DNS servers had been hijacked and all traffic was being routed through servers that would add a JavaScript element to pages causing Advertising sites to open. The activity seemed related to pages with ads present. On changing the DNS servers back to the correct ones all seemed well. Pistonheads classifieds section worked properly. However on going to the main homepage a new window opened courtesy of webuyanycar.com. At first I thought this was back to the DNS server problem, but no I think this is just a rogue Ad on Pistonheads. The moral of the story is do not exclude checking your router if strange things happen on your computer. This is an insidious problem as you can be routing sensitive information e.g. your bank access details etc. via rogue servers. http://community.norton.com/en/forums/rdsrvcom-mal...
