I'm writing a classified ad now, but my single newlines are being converted into doubles. I can't easily paste the source and output into the box due to the forum formatting that gets applied automatically but you should be able to see the problem from the screenshots.

I don't want to place the advert until the spacing is fixed, because it looks silly with so much whitespace. Other ads seem OK.

I'm using Chrome 39 on Windows 7, if that helps.

First guess... Are you cut and pasting your text from Word? Might be causing the issue - try putting it through Notepad first and see if that clears it up.

"This car got to be seen, first to see will buy."

Should be filtered out on all ads. wink

Thanks for the suggestion, but I pasted from notepad in the first place. In fact, get the same issue even if I just enter

A
B
C
D

it comes out as

A

B

C

D

Why does this seem to happen nowadays, not just on PH, but in the wider IT world?
(Systems seem to default to double spacing)

Did anyone solve this?

Currently have the same problem on a Mac, having tried Safari, Chrome & Firefox, pasting from both Word & Textedit and even manually writing what I wish with a return key to start a new line. Still ending up double spaced lines.

Any ideas?

We've had this issue crop up in the past with those that are copying and pasting. Try removing the line breaks in your text so it looks like there aren't any gaps in your text.

It may look like this
when writing it

However it will actually display

like this for you.

Failing that, PM me when you're done and I'll sort it out for you.
