And for us trade advertisers having massive Toyota ads plastered across the ad upload page?

I refer you to point 4 sir! As I say, work is being done on the tone and coverage of the adverts.

3) With regards to the "We buy any car" campaigns I can understand why at first it may seem counter intuative to allow an advertiser that competes with our own business. But do you really think we'd allow it to continue if it was having a tangible negative impact on the classifieds? The simple fact is that there are clearly different types of people - some who like to sell their car privately on PH and some who take the route with companies like we buy any car. This is backed up by the fact that we buy any car have experienced a great deal of success with the campaign (despite as I previously mentioned it not impacting us). If we could have it our way we'd obviously prefer people to advertise on PH, but for some people that just isn't their cup of tea!
I apologise that this may seem "nit picking", but given you state WBAC has had a "great deal of success" through the advertising, how can you claim this hasn't impacted the classifieds? In my mind, if people have gone from the classified pages to selling their car to WBAC that of course impacts the classifieds, while it may still have been advertised, but it hasn't sold through there..

I don't think it's just the choice of advertiser, but more the size and visual impact makes the site appear to be branded by WBAC rather than pistonheads that is causing issue.

I don't come on PH as much any more, but thought I'd check out the homepage and I was staggered at this:

I just read above that you're 'sorting' it but honestly, you need to asap as that is the worst website front page I've ever seen I think! About one third content, two thirds awful advert. I only cropped the task bars top and bottom on this image, so this really is as much of PH as I see when I go to the home page!

I can't recall when last I bothered visiting the PH homepage. Nothing of interest to be found there generally. I will always navigate straight to the forums or sales.

That's what I usually do, but I wanted to find the Exige story as someone mentioned it. I was shocked how it looked!

The full page wbac ads are obnoxious.
On mobile most of the banner ads don't auto resize. I'm using Chrome on a galaxy s4.

I visit less and less now with the overly intrusive advertising and judging by the marked drop off in posts on the mercedes forum I'm not the only one

I realise that you need to make money but I fear for me ( and many others ) the pendulum has swung too far

Ghostery in conjunction with adblock works for me.

My adblocker has failed to prevent some of the PH avalanche of adverts getting through now as well.

Genuinely looking to buy a car, but just can't be bothered here anymore - and I've now noticed the same cars advertised cheaper by dealers on AT and eBay which is a little odd to say the least!

Maybe you should start charging a membership for forum access? Would instantly get rid of the kids and trolls! wink

Are you just referring to ads? Or to anything else across the site?

Not a bad idea. No adverts for paid subscribers as well. Makes sense.

More related to the kind of dross that gets posted and left up, too many trolls and too many utter tossers.
The moderation team work very hard but with so many posts each day, it's difficult to see/ review every single one. If you do have concerns with specific posts/ topics please report them and they will then be reviewed thumbup
