You're like the Gordon Ramsey of PH. wink

Just to be clear, I'm all for ads as I appreciate PH needs to make money to keep doing the things it does and I love those things.

I can't see the problem unless it's been fixed already?

I really think you need to stop being reactive, start being proactive and ask yourself why you are constantly responding to PH'ers with the above message.

The reason is, as I see it, that your current advertising strategy isn't working, and it's doing damage to the business.

Look at the commentary on here re the adverts, it doesn't change - the same gripes come up time and time again and you respond in the same way each time. You're chasing problems rather than fixing them at source - ie your strategy.

The issues aren't confined to the classifieds either. PH used to be very much "under the radar" from a visual aspect in terms of using it in the workplace, but now, it's just full of flashy, glaring adverts, which means that it is FAR from subtle.

The attempts to monetise the website to the n'th degree is making it a st user-experience for the people who use it, without whom you wouldn't have a job in the first place.

Sorry to be harsh, but I'm exasperated, and I'm not alone in that.

Further -

1) Despite the protestations by many of you, the analytics for the site don't tell the same story about the classifieds section. Our visitors to this area of the site are up nearly 40% year on year, and the number of cars for sale is up by over 50%, again year on year.
This doesn't necessarily mean what you think (or hope) it means.

From a personal perspective, I know that the PH classifieds is one of the main places to go if you're looking for a performance car, so I use the classifieds in spite of the crap user-experience. I suspect this is the case for others too.

As for the number of cars for sale being up, are you undercutting your competitors and/or offering a better deal? If so, that's most likely why your figures are up - it's not because of the user-experience, it's in spite of such.

The display ad rules were broken at the weekend, there should be only one big ad unit per page.
We have suspended the two ad agencies that came through the break so this will not happen. The Ad team are working with Google Ad Serving to resolve it.

I wonder how that circle gets squared...?
What in the name of English does that mean?

Totally agree with the comments re the horrible adverts.
It means how does one carry out, or complete a seemingly impossible task.

EDIT.

I see that others have posted a similar reply to mine. I hadn't read all of the posts.

More related to the kind of dross that gets posted and left up, too many trolls and too many utter tossers.
Surely whether one is an onanist or not, is in the eye of the beholder?

Too late. My favourites have been amended to link straight to the forums on my phone and works laptop. Home machine has ad-block.
