Firefox on a Mac here - the make drop down just doesn't work frown

Similarly, the first time I click on cars for sale, the makes/models takes a while to appear. Then, when it does appear, the drop down doesn't work. I need to refresh the page.

That is with Chrome on windows 7.

Yes, and also can we just have the main, popular brands listed first, the list is clogged with makes I've never even heard of.

Indeed. It seems an absolute nonsense to have all the historical makes in there when there are no cars for sale. Clearly the list should be dynamically created based on what's for sale.

Adler and Armstrong-Siddely indeed.

Before someone says just use the list below, that's all well and good, however you can't get the thing to then show all models from one manufacturer as the tick-box option on the final page doesn't appear to work properly either rolleyes

it still shows after the other boxes, but even worse is the comedy shape shifting that then occurs as all the wonderful ads that fill the screen load. That moves everything around so you have to wait to get selecting. a bit silly!

Unfortunately the ad policies applied to the ads that appear above these are outside of tech control, and as they are served after the page loads we have to pick a size to allow space for - if a skin (the ads around the outside) shows, or it is a big ad slot on the tarmac part then it will jump the page... we have no way of knowing the ad that will be served in that space when the page is generated.

Though I may revisit the volumes of large vs small height ads in that slot to see if it is better to move to a larger space in that area on load, and then it shrinks if not... but only if we are serving on average more large formats into that slot.

Hope that makes sense.

The drop downs are due to the way the multiple make and model needs to be generated on the fly, and not like the other boxes that are fixed values - so it has to run as part of page load (we are going to look at this, but at the moment we have other priorities and a limited resource to do them)

Nope, 'fraid not. Make and model still missing from the classifieds home screen. I started another topic before seeing this one. Screenshot on the other one.
