RacingPete has said it's not more simple. Since he has been involved with the technical side of PH for a fair few years now, I think he knows more about how simple it would be to migrate to a completely new host than you do thus I believe what he says.

Whenever I post something it does not show up until I sign out and clear out the cache, it's getting a little tedious.

I can't post using the mobile site at all...
This.

Thought it was just me until I found this thread. The mobile site is pretty much unusable on an iOS device... won't let you login in and when it does it wont let you post anything. You must switch to full site and use that.

Very backward step at the moment.

What I don't understand about the rational behind changing to an off the shelf platform, so to speak, is the claim it is too complex with the number of posts involved, circa 40m if I remember correctly.

Let's assume for a moment Pistonheads is still running in another 15 years time and there is 80m posts, are we still going to be on the same crapped out system?

At some point it has to be changed. JFDI...

Login every time I reopen the forums.
Then I click login - automatically logs me in (no username / password request)

Chrome on Windows 7

Same for at home as well running Chrome on Windows 8

I suppose it's just a giant mapping exercise between old system and new in terms of content and database columns.

How complex can a forum be? Posts, topics, users linked by user id and topic id. Users I guess have dates, post counts, ban indicators etc. Obviously stuff like favourites and watched threads would probably need to be binned but I really don't think that's much hardship to set up again.

I guess the hardest part would be now integrating it with the single sign-on solution which has been implemented.

I have been away on holiday for the last week so just playing catch up.

The team released an update for the constant having to re-login issue so that the remember me applies across the forums. You may have to logout and log back in again (clicking remember me) to make sure the cookies are up to date. Or clear your cookies on your device.

A release was also released to fix the issue logging in on IE9, this will now work properly.

I am catching up with the product team on the mobile.pistonheads.com and how that progressed last week - will get an update out soon.

I've just done that so lets see what happens. I shall report back.

No sure if it's been mentioned (long thread) but on IE 11 (Windows 7, 64 bit) I have to click Sign In - pressing enter doesn't submit the form (enter does work on Chrome).

No need to log on this morning, so 18 hours later. That's infinitely better !

Just to add, had persistent logging in problems on safari and by completely logging out, navigating away from pistonheads (oh, the horror!), then navigate back to PH and logging in using the 'remember me' tick box seems to have worked.

Been a few days now and so far so good.

I thought I'd try that and see what happens. So I clicked log out, closed the tab, then closed down safari entirely from running in the background, opened it back up, clicked Pistonheads, and clicked log in.

It logged me it without asking for a user name or password, I am not sure if that is worthy of rofl or banghead

I couldn't log in on my android phone, so selected the "beta" skin in my preferences as advised (which is truly horrible by the way and I can't work out how to use it)

Now if I put my iPad in landscape I have "classic" and in portrait I get "beta"!

Yup. "Responsive" design - as in "your screen is narrow so you must be on a mobile phone". Try it with a desktop browser - make the window narrow and it'll exhibit the same behaviour.

My iPad isn't doing it, suggesting it is not supposed to be.

Depends on the device's resolution, I believe. Which iPad do you have?

When I log in, the option for 'remember me' is greyed out. Win 7 with Chrome.
