Sorry, but this is absolutely terrible.

As a mainly mobile user, it's just awful. It's slower and worse (IMO) to navigate around. It's kind of putting me off using the forums tbh.

ETA and how do I get back to the main forum list? I'm stuck on this thread!!
Click on My Stuff button. Gassing Station works too, chap.
Thanks! Figured it out eventually.

However I'm now logged on using the PC and Beta 2 looks awful.

How on earth could they make such a mess of this - who develops a skin that is useless on a phone and looks crap on a PC?

Was this even tested before it was rolled out?

Is it possible to vow forum groups using Beta2 on a mobile device? (and if not, please make it so.)

I like to browse the Pie and Piston forum group for new threads, rather than slavishly clicking into each individual forum. Can I still do this?

It seems not to be possible from the forum list in mobile view. I can get there from the Menu (top right), but that then dumps me into desktop view, requiring much zooming and scrolling...

The new skins are just a disaster. The first beta testing skin was better than the Beta 2, but they're both absolutely crap. What was wrong with the old one? Change for the sake of change is usually ill advised, and Haymarket should be able to see that through the hubris and disaster of messing with the classified pages. Much like when Autotrader made their big changes a few years ago and ruined their site.

The beta 2 skin is so unwieldy to use on my Android phone, it's actually put me off using it at work. I'd regularly take five minutes to surf PH at work on my phone, but now I'd sooner just watch a Youtube video than battle through the st PH mobile has turned into.

A new issue. I change to Beta or Beta2 on my iPhone 5. It works fine for a bit then suddenly reverts back to classic which you can't use on a mobile. It will stay on classic until you go back and change again!

What a disaster!

How do I get to the last page of a topic on this new beta 2 skin? It seems the only option is to start at page one and click next page?

You do realise only a small percentage complain as they don't like change. The old mobile site is going as the Techies can't do anything on it as it's run by a third party and it costs Haymarket each time to change something on it.

I personally like the Beta 2 Skin, as it's very easy to browse the forum on my iPhone 5.

Another user who thought the mobile site had a glitch and was waiting for it to be fixed. After a few days i looked in here. Suprised it wasnt made obvious within the page.
FWIW i quite like the beta2 on my iphone 5 but hate it on a pc - so I have to keep changing it all the time.

Why cant my skin preference be stored as the device (cookie ?) rather than against my login - then i could select and keep a skin that suits the device i'm using.
Right now i have to keep going in and changing it depending what i'm on.

Took me bloody ages to figure out why I couldn't log on to the mobile site. Why no information in the mails that were sent out as part of the login change??

I think my main issue with the new layout on mobile is the amount of white space. I liked the fact that everything was neat and tidy before. Now we have lots of unnecessary line spacing everywhere and things like the speech bubble arrows when people have quoted that just aren't needed, they just take up valuable screen space. Mobile should be designed for mobiles, not for those that have full blown tablets attached to their ears pretending they're still phones.

Confusingly, you want to be using beta 2, not mobile. They stopped development of the mobile skin quite a while ago.

Open Pistonheads on your phone (based on a iphone)
Login again because it will have logged you out.
Wait for the "skin" to load.
Select one of the forum drop downs e.g. The Pie & Piston
Select the forum you want e.g. News, Politics & Economics
Select the thread you are interested in e.g. Farage stays on as UKIP leader

At the top of the thread it says " PREV 1 of 32 NEXT"
The "1" is in a white box.
Click the white box.
Delete the 1 and enter the page number you are interested in viewing e.g. 32
Click "Go" - do not click "Done" it doesn't do anything
Wait for page to load

Infinitely simpler than before when all the forums were listed on one page and you selected from the list which then loaded the threads, and you then clicked on the page number of the last page to open it.

Plenty will dislike the change but not complain.

I agree.

Because they couldn't monetise it by plastering it with fking adverts.

Not quite.. The old mobile site was maintained by a third party and RacingPete has posted many times that making changes to that setup was not possible.

Perhaps the reason why the old mobile site worked was because it wasn't subject to the ineptitude of Haymarket. But one can see, being simple and pleasant to use, Haymarket would want to mess with it and fk it up.It was a simple setup, and I'm sure if the will was there Haymarket could have their own product developed to be about the same as the old mobile skin.

The new one - and I am using the recommended skin as mentioned just a few posts above - is a disaster. It's slow. It's clunky. I hate clicking on an ancient thread to be present with the front page, and to have to manually type in the number for the last page. I pick up my phone when I have a spare minute, and then put it down again when I remember how clunky it is having to log in, and then use that arduously slow and fussy navigation bar.

Why was there any desire to change it at all? What changes did Haymarket want to implement? Did they not think twice when they looked back on how they turned a really good classified section into a disaster?

Should the beta 2 skin be using the Dropbox logo for 'My Stuff'?

Bit naughty imo...
