WARNING: PIstonheads car sale scam
Discussion
Hi... This is a warning of a possible scammer working on Pistonheads car ads.... Wondered if anyone has been caught out by it.
For the minute I'm going to be vague about the details...but would be interested in hearing your responses.
Basically... I emailed (through Pistonheads) the car seller... it was the exact car I was looking for and at a good price.
I became suspicious because they replied saying :
1- They had reduced the car by £2,000 ...putting it way below any other similar car. (too good to be true!!)
2- They claimed to be travelling because they were in the forces ..and so the car could NOT be viewed but instead would be delivered to me at their cost.
3- I would pay money to Amazon Payments, as a third party, to be held until I was sure I wanted the car.
I imagine if I replied they would send me some bogus Amazon Payments info, in the hope I'd pay over my money and they'd vanish.
PLEASE be wary of this scammer !!!
Phil

Pretty standard scam across the different selling platforms. There is even a helpful fraud warning on the adverts. For the minute I'm going to be vague about the details...but would be interested in hearing your responses.
