It seems it's a bit too complicated to have one skin do both mobile and desktop. I'd say create two skins, one for each - I say create, they're already done (beta2 on mobile and Classic on desktop).
One possibility is to have a slightly different url for the mobile site, e.g. "mobile.pistonheads.com" and automatically use formatting suitable for mobile devices. It's a radical idea I know, but I reckon it could work.

The Beta2 skin looks superficially similar to Big Blue, but there is something wrong with the font that makes it very hard on my eyes and tiring to read. If the Big Blue font and spacing was used, then Beta2 would be fine. Like others I have to go through the rigmarole of changing the skin if I access PH from a mobile device, and then change it back again.

I notice the P.H. O'Meter remains broken as well.

I'm happy to confirm work is afoot, blood is being sweated and candles being burnt late into the night behind the scenes at PH Towers to resolve the numerous cosmetic issues which blight the beta2 skin on the desktop wink

Kudos to the ability to find someone able to make an even worse mobile version, that must have taken some scraping. The challenging functionality of the old stuff isn't even am option for me now, well done.

Errr, the mobile site still works fine if you use the right url - mobile dot pistonheads dot com/gassing/

Edit - sorry for the stupid formatting, it was removing the mobile part when posting it

Today, post text doesn't wrap properly for the side advertisements, but disappears behind them.

ETA : see dmitsi's post

Wouldn't it be easier to return the public back to an actual working version then release the new version when it has been finished and tested?
Just a thought!

Is this some sort of bad joke, or are Haymarket actively trying to drive people away from the forums?

Mobile - clicking a thread in My Stuff now takes me to the first page of it; various unresponsive links, security certificate warnings etc.

All seems to have gone a bit quiet. Any progress chaps?

I'll also be depressed if you ask me what the issues still are, because if you can't see them and want to address them yourselves it's terminally disappointing.

Mobile is utterly useless, full of dead or unresponsive page links.

Wasting your breath here.
Haymarket appears to be satisfied or they'd get these things sorted, wouldn't they? Look at the number of topics in website feedback - mostly complaints but nothing happens. We get the occasional assurance that something will be done which never materialises.
It's very much a case of put up with it or leave.

Confused - do you mean mobile.pistonheads.com ? If so that's intentionally dead.

Everyone is supposed to use www.pistonheads.com and it should have a responsive theme which adapts to mobile or desktop.

Another week goes by, another week of nothing done, another week of issues everywhere, and it's all gone quiet on the western front.

Don't you guys have any professional pride in getting this place looking and working properly?

Except that it doesn't - using it on a mobile device (Chrome) isn't worth the hassle. Press the next page link button - error page (no, I don't want to go to the bloody home page). Try to alternatively press the last page number - unresponsive, only works with a long press to open the options box. Only have these problems on Pistonheads, every other site I use is fine.

Of course, I could just use it on desktop. But that would mean constantly having to re-enter my user name and password ...

Weird. I use it on in Chrome on an LG G4 and Nexus 7 most of the time. Don't have any more or less trouble with next page/ last page number links than I do using it on the desktop.

Looks like a BBC computer generated forum by a 13 year old out of their bedroom in the 80's.

Another month goes by and all progress seems to be non-existant.

I thought there was supposed to be weekly updates?

It's making money, nobody cares.

Sadly our community is now just a farm but at least before you felt like free range livestock, now it's just a big battery chicken shed held up by poor construction and bombarded with crass adverts.
