Just received acknowledgement from (what looks like) PH of an attempt to change my password. I'd suggest it's phoney, as I haven't had any need to reset my password. If any tech /admin folks on here would like a copy, with full header breakdown , please let me know by PM and I'll be only too happy to pass it on .

I had the same thing as well yesterday. Forwarded it to Pistonheads to investigate and changed my password as well (manually, not using the link in the email) just to be on the safe side.

They already know about it. James said this in a thread he posted a few weeks ago.

Hi everyone,

We've been alerted that some scamming scum bags have cottoned on to our recent site update and have modified one of our emails in order to fraudulently extract information from PHers.

The email looks exactly like our email (because they have copied it). For reference I've included a screen grab of it. You'll note it isn't sent from us and - crucially - it asks for you to "validate your credentials".

If you receive this email please delete it.

Apologies for any inconvieince this may cause but there really isn't much we can do except to make people aware - so please pass this on.

Cheers
JD

No, that's not the email. This is the one I got, and it does come from Pistonheads...

I definitely didn't request a password reset.

That's exactly the same as the one I received. Again I haven't requested a password reset.

It tells you what to do in the email if you didn't request a password reset.

I didn't, equally as I didn't want to draw attention to the e mail address ,which looked a bit odd , as did contents of the full header. Perhaps one of the wise men can confirm or otherwise whether this is a legit address.
