GG has 10 stickies on the first page.

We're at the tipping point where there's going to be more stickies than actual threads in the first page.

We are aware that they are starting to stack up, however as these are paid for adverts, by our partner companies and which at the end of the day generate the revenue required to support PH, need to have prime positioning on the forum.

It is something we are looking into but if you have any suggestions in the meantime then please feel free to share.

Split them over pages 1 & 2, and tier the price points.

What i've typed is too long and boring to post here, so I'll send it by carrier pigeon. Where's best to send it if there's a suggestion box?

How difficult would it be to have more threads on page 1? (Genuinely, I don't know)
So there's 20 threads on pages 2 onwards as normal, but 30 on page 1. So you get the same amount of user-generated content per page, and the stickies keep their prominence.

I can see at least three stickies that don't need to be there.

If you guys are short on bandwidth and want a helicopter view I'm sure a crack team of PH regulars can run some ideas up the mast for you going forward.

Maybe we could generate a skyline of cost saving opportunities and benchmark the best ones to optimise a rapid solution to this issue?

I agree with this. Right now I just counted 11 stickies and 9 posts. Can't we just have 30 in total, it can be on every page if needed? It's easier to scroll down than it is to skip to page 2. Maybe even make a user option in the themes or something, then people can reduce to match the internet speed if that's the issue.

It is getting a bit over the top when there are more ad stickies than threads on the first page - I know the ads pay for the site, but when they outnumber the content they start driving people away.

Spreading them out over a few pages and increasing the number of threads per page as others have suggested both seem like a decent ideas to improve it.

Condense all the stickies into a single thread?

The sponsored crap you can leave as individuals but surely the others can be amalgamated?

11 Adverts 9 threads on the first page of GG. Just getting daft. First world problems, I realise but still.

I'm sure companies would pay to have the entire page as one advert, can we do that? That would be great.

It's got a ££££ sign in the first column, so is presumably paid for sticky content by the GT100 Club, whoever they are.
