Guys,

Not sure if this is something related to me being in the USA, but PH has started using some seriously obnoxious banner ads. Specifically, they start with full audio and have no mute or pause button.

This is not conducive to office browsing!

It is - it really is....

I allow ads on nearly all the open forums I am on - because I can put up with few ads if it keeps the forums free...... the paid forums don't have ads anyway.

However for me there is a clear difference between a few unobtrusive ads and what's getting forced into my brousing on here - while that situation remains Adblock stays with special rules for PH

And intrusive, noisy audio/video ads drive users away, which is counterproductive.

The Telegraph website had a phase of autoplaying video ads, which was not just annoying but also consumed data when browsing on a mobile device. They have quietly disappeared over the last few weeks, presumably due to the volume of complaints and negative effect on visitor numbers.

That Audi one is really annoying. Please stop it auto starting at least. It's getting that I'll be looking elsewhere for my motoring kicks if this carries on much longer.

I came on here to start this very thread. The person responsible is a hateful .

Given the choice of forcing my eyes open to watch PHTV without being able to look away or these obnoxious as I'd take the former and believe me that is a serious punishment.

Whats next? Signature strips with overly stupid GIFs in it?

The Admin have told us no signature lines or avatars many times so we are OK on that score

This has just started happening when I use PH on my iPhone. The video loads automatically and even when I do not click on it, it starts playing. I click elsewhere on the screen, but the videos still play. When I eventually get back to the thread, scrolling up or down brings the video back

I started a thread about this 2/3 weeks ago and still nothing has been done. I have never used ad blockers, but will be forced to soon if the sound isn't auto-muted.

Guys, there's 3 separate threads on this same issue, none of which have had any sort of response.....what's going on????

I'm going to post this same reply onto all three threads with the hope that someone who can fix it notices.

If PH don't acknowledge this I'm going to report each thread on the topic to forcing the issue into their inbox.

just arrived in the U.S. and logged into PH to find an annoying advert with music playing (iPad). I absolutely HATE any website that automatically plays music!

shoutJUST USE fkING ADBLOCK !!!!!!

Why is it so hard for you people to grasp? PH clearly don't give a toss about ramming their intrusive ads down their members' throats so fk em. Play them at their own game.

Chrome > Options > More tools > Extensions > Get More Extensions > type in 'adblock' > scroll down to the one with the red octogon symbol with a white hand in it > install. Refresh page and all ads gone. Done.

Thanks for the useless advice. Why have you not grasped that the browser hijacking issue is primarily in relation to safari on the iPhone?
