Yep, still doing it on the iPhone. That same video window/frame hijacks the browser and pops up full screen every time you so much as touch the screen.

It's always one of three videos; Matt Edmondson, Ollie Locke, or Food Hacks.

Infuriating and hoping for a fix asap.

Sure;y it isn't the individual adverts that are the problem, it must be the framework used to deploy them?

You are correct, it is the framework - though I like screenshots as it makes sure that the issue is the same thing that is being described in words.

We have now turned it off on a phone, so if you still see it on a phone then post away.

Good job, at least part of the problem seems to be solved. Still bugs the hell out of me on the ipad, but just browsed a few threads on the iPhone and the video adverts did not spool up.

More beer available if you can kill them on the pad too!!

Matt Edmonton is back. I hope he and his crappy magic school get the clap.

I'm still seeing them, though less frequently. Just had the food hacks one pop up on my iPad when looking at the desktop site.

Still a pain on the ipad. It means that I can't listen to a podcast or internet radio and read a thread at the same time, as to do the latter the volume has to be muted.

Since my thread was merged into this one - another new trick the advertisers have thrown in is stopping you scrolling past the ad!

Scroll down as long as you want, it scrolls back up until the ad finishes playing.

Hmmmm... that is annoying - is this happening on all video ads now, or just some in particular?

For the first time in my life, having used Firefox daily (on a PC) for more years than I can remember, I have been forced to install an ad blocker today.

I'm a believer in web sites being able to make money via ads and I also occassionally click on relevant ads on PistonHeads and other sites. However, the continued audio blasting of videos automatically loading on the PH site has become too much. Nothing has changed despite multiple posts complaining about it from myself and others. If they would load muted, I have no issue.

A sad day and I will continue to use PH daily, but now you will get no revenue generation from me...

Glad you got this all sorted out, I was beginning to think you were taking the piss.

Oh wait, you didn't. Of course.

For the love of all that's holy will you fix the fking awful noisy ads, it's been months FFS.

grrr thank goodness others have noticed! I get my daily PH dose when I wake up browsing my iPad in bed while listening to some tunes. That magic school one made me climb out of my skin with rage when it interrupts whatever tune I am listening to. Images fine. But videos that just decide to play automatically? Magic way to drive people away from the site.

It is, works a treat.

I'm using 'Crystal' ad blocker which costs $0.99 in the App Store. Since installing it, I've not seen a single ad on PH, which is lovely, especially given nobody could be arsed to fix the intrusive ads. Highly recommended, PH is much less polluted and much better to browse now, and not making a single penny from me in clickbait or accidental nudges of the ghastly ads they've splashed all over the show.
