Has the mobile version gone?!
Discussion
Whenever I go back a page, it takes a second for the toolbar at the bottom to actually drop right to the bottom of the screen - during this time it lags.
Third world problem but what worked absolutely fine before is now just annoying - makes me less likely to browse on my phone (which I and I'm sure a lot of others do more than on a computer).

Use the GTI theme - then it adapts properly to small screens and looks pretty much like Big Blue on the desktop. The old mobile.pistonheads.com site was run by a third party and was extremely difficult/impossible for them to update to reflect the new login changes, etc.
Run by a third party... Okay, I understand why they have made the decision to proceed with their own alternative. One 'responsive' site to update, complete control etc etc. Problem is, their option isn't good enough. Still an amazing community, and maybe the majority of people will not be fussed. But, personally I think it's poor, and believe a forum with this much traffic and engaged users should have a first class soloution. How do I start using the GTI skin?

I've gone over to GTI skin as its best on mobile, please bring back the old mobile version
Sounds unlikely the old version will come back but a version that works properly on mobiles would seem a reasonable request. GTI skin is distinctly substandard on my phone in a number of ways.Hi all,
As noted the mobile site was turned off, having been replaced by the GTI skin. As someone has pointed out, going forwards it makes sense it have a single responsive design to maintain - allowing consistency of appearance and function across all platforms.
Understandably some of you are not all that happy about it and have some concerns about the new skin - however the benefit of having a single skin to maintain and develop is that the team can focus on it entirely and as such you should see substantial and rapid developments happening. In other words, keep you (constructive) feedback coming and we'll quickly be able to react to it and incorporate it into the skin.
Cheers

Can you give us some specific feedback please? What exactly is awful (and what device are you using?) - if we know we can start putting it right!
Thanks

I'm using an iPhone 5s.Thanks

The problem is that the grid and layout is the wrong proportion to view at an acceptable size on a smartphone. This maybe okay for a tablet, but certainly not on an iPhone. You need to change the grid to support the device. So with a smartphone the grid needs less width, with more depth. I've no doubt that commercially there will be other restrictions too, however there are ways to make it work - just look at how Facebook was able to adopt their mobile app to support their commercial model. Happy to give more input via pm.
I'm also missing the old mobile site big time. Even with gti enabled, the font is just too small and navigation too hard to make pleasant viewing on a smartphone - Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8. Even using a Nexus 7 it's hard. I've have to resort to using the accessibility function to make the font 'large' and then you have to pinch and zoom / scroll to read anything. I don't want to drift away from Pistonheads on a mobile device but unless something changes then i fear that may be the case.
If the PH developers do intend to address the performance of the mobile site an obvious place to start is to create a skin which resembles the previous mobile site. It is a 'last known good' UI that can easily be used as a reference in all aspects and foregoes the need to list each and every failing of the current service.

Thanks for responding. Thanks

Others have mentioned the font size. Navigation is also very clunky, and I can no longer look at a sub forum in totality, I have to pick sub sub fora Eg I can't go into "Porsche" and look at all the new posts. I have to go into each sub forum under Porsche. Which together with the clunky navigation makes it tedious.
If you're serious about listening to users, I'd suggest you try to develop a skin to match the old mobile site. I do most of my PHing on a mobile and it's hard to look at the current site for any length of time.
Thanks.
PS, I'm using the GTi skin.
