Haymarket are worried that some petition will be made up so they have to take it down so decided to strike whilst the iron is hot.

But recently anybody with views have been hammered on the site by other posters intent on getting reactions

Do not question the party line comrade, mentioning or linking to freely available public information that criticizes Pistonheads, Haymarket or the people that post here is gross misconduct - your free will disgusts me.

Off for a few days and I have missed what has happened!

The thread was a disgrace anyway.

As I see it, NPE is like a flame to a host of moths who are happy to espouse extreme right wing views. Because there are quite a few of them, those views get endorsed, repeated, cheered on and generally end up being part of the furniture of NPE. This means that the extremist posters feel "at home" in NPE, and NPE thereby loses any self-moderation that should come with sensible voice shouting down the extremist nonsense.

Unfortunately the solution I see to this is much heavier and proactive moderation of NPE that shuts down extremist voices rapidly until the "balance" of the forum returns to something more centrist. The extremists will find somewhere else to peddle their views, somewhere that they will get more sympathy and their views will get more traction. Then, one hopes, over time the forum will return to a self moderating model.

Precisely, it was about 1% of the posts on that thread. Yet again a great discussion ruined by new people joining PH just to stir things up.

Very sad.

The few posters who went round in circles and the idiot that started a twitter account and wordpress site curtailed what was underneath it all a very good debate on the biggest crisis in Europe since WW2.

Shameful but the mods were left with no option but to shut it I don't I suppose.
