Mobile site & battery consumption

A relatively minor thing I know in the grand scheme of things, but on the two mobile devices I use to browse PH - a Blackberry Passport and an iPhone 5c, I've noticed that both of them now PROPERLY chew the battery while browsing the new mobile site.
I'm talking loss of 40% battery charge on both of them from 30-60 minutes browsing, and both devices now get warm to the touch while browsing the forums.
It never used to be like this, so it makes me think that there's something very inefficient happening with the way that the pages are having to be rendered.
