Mods can we leave this here just temporary - I know it's gonna get moved to website feedback but can it stay here for just a couple of days.

This forum for me is damn near unusable without adblocking or similar just wondered how many users are in the same boat or if there are others that don't find it an issue at all

They lost my goodwill when the adverts took up more screen space than the content, they popped over full-screen and the final straw was when they made noise.

Get uBlock Origin - lightweight and easy to use.

Now I need to get my email address changed to a junk one as they've started spamming that too.

Yep. I received a load of st via email yesterday.

Another annoying thing is that we've got so many sticky topics of promotions and partnerships that you barely get any real topics on the first page of GG.

Oddly enough there is nowhere on the options page to amend your email address.

Adblock and Ghostery here.
I didn't want to have to block ads here but they got that intrusive I had no option.

There is, but you have to have a verified email address.

I use PH on laptop at work on IE & chrome, previously an Iphone 5 with safari, now a galaxy s6 edge with their standard browser and a galaxy tab using chrome and have never seen a single intrusive advert.

uBlock Origin does everything Ghostery does (whilst not selling the information to advertising companies).

I ditched both Adblock and Ghostery for uBlock Origin.

There are ads? When did that happen?

You'll be telling me Facebook will be introducing ads next.

<pats ublock fondly>

uBlock or uBlock Origin? The former is now unsupported, the original developer set up Origin. Switch to that if you haven't already.

I wanted to persist allowing PH to run ads initially, but since IE freezes for 4-5s every time I load a page - while 800 different ad libraries load in - I've started blocking ads.
If PH ads were less intrusive I'd turn it off..

Ads are fine until they take the piss. More and more sites are going that way. I have not got that annoyed with them yet, but close. I have one on my phone because I'm fed up with websites that fill the page with adds or send me off to another site.

I installed Adblock as a result of PH's ad activities I'd never used or felt I needed to use one before - it's (Adblock) default settings blocked other forum adverts so on all other forum I have allowed unblocked them all - except PH. I can tolerate sensible ads that are not intrusive but this place has gone way further than any other forum I use
