PMs private messages/personal messages on PH

I'm also having issues. I am pretty sure that pm's I send are being received but the copy that is meant to be sent to me never arrives.
Anyone sending me a pm directly... Nothing arrives.
It's a hotmail account and did used to work ok. Nothing showing in spam/junk either.
Is there anything I can add into the safe senders list in hotmai that might help?
Cheers
Dave

It hasn't worked for me for several weeks (+) - not that I've tried it on a regular basis.
And it can't be (it isn't) that difficult to set up logging to see what's going on.
As a sysadmin myself, who has managed several differing types of servers over the years and assisted dev teams etc. I'm aware that sometimes things can be tough to track down - but given how long this has been going on for, and the multitude of other amateurish looking errors the keep cropping up on this site from time to time - I am left wondering is there are sufficient skills* present to resolve the issue(s).
ETA: * Or sufficient resource.

Thanks for the add of resource And it can't be (it isn't) that difficult to set up logging to see what's going on.

The method for sending PM was changed as part of a move to different hosting platform, meaning that emails get sent via Amazonses instead of the older version through a DLL in the code. This makes the system more reliable than it was, as the PM system use to fail due to the mail server (or more SMTP server) that was being used to send the messages falling over.
What has also not helped is that the mail.pistonheads.com email account, which is the authority for any mail from PistonHeads, is listed on two blacklists at the moment (these are often used by mail providers to automatically block messages being received - and maybe the cause of the intermittent issue) - we are working on removing ourselves from these blacklists.

Ah, good old blacklists. It was for this reason that I setup 3 IP addresses with 3 individual (outbound) SMTP servers - the first was used for critical stuff (e.g. it must never be used for SPAM type material, protecting it from blacklists), the second was used for general outbound stuff, and the third was used for spammy type stuff.
The software (usually a mailing list) that generated advertising email for example, was hard coded to use the third server.
Of course it can (will!) get blacklisted, but at least it then doesn't interfere with normal operations, whilst you are going through the delisting process.

If it's this then it's pretty fundamental - I use a gmail alias and don't even get the copy sent to me when I send a PM. That's a pretty big chunk of your user base impacted ?Gassing Station | Website Feedback | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
